healthy drink recipes?
« on: July 13, 2013, 02:34:47 pm »
Does anyone know of any healthy drinks or drink recipes that have no sugar and no artifical sweetener? I am tired of drinking plain water and want to cut diet soda out of my diet completely.

I drink chia fresca. It's made with water, chia, lemon or lime juice and honey.

Good for you stay away from artifical sweeteners ie aspartame. It's poison. I'm trying to get my diabetic grandmother off it but she's stubborn  :(

Anyway,my suggestion is either infuse water with fresh fruits for light flavor or dilute your juice with water, gradually increasing the amount of water over time.
You'll get used to it. One day pure fruit juice will be way too sweet for you, almost syrupy even.

If you must have something carbonated, go for naturally flavored club soda or plain club soda infused with fruit chunks.

Amazing Grass also has a good line of prepared drink mixes. They taste surprisingly good! If it's out of your budget you can always read the ingredients and try to make a dupe. Hope that helps! Stay healthy  ;D

I use sweet tea or juice in the bottom third of my glass and a flavored water to finish that off, and just add more ice and water through out the day.

Emergencies are a great source of vitamins and electrolights.  The raspberry one tasted great!!!  Nice for a change once in a while.

Thanks for the feedback. Yes, i am trying to get away from artificial sugars but dont want to increase my sugar intake either, so finding anything to drink other than water is very hard.  I will check out the brand you mentioned!

I've never seen it in a store, but that doesn't mean it's not available.
I make it myself using a recipe I found online.

You can use juice or plain water as a base, according to what you like.

I use ginger tea, add chia and honey, and lemon juice. I also use apple cider vinegar sometimes instead of the lemon.

i slice half a lemon and half a lime, put them in the bottom of a mason jar and crush them. then fill with water and shake it. you can drink it right away, or let it sit in the fridge over night for more flavor. i love it and so does my two year old!

My Grandma did the exact same thing and showed it to me and I loved it when she made those for me when we visited.

The only thing that comes to mind is flavored teas.  You can make them and put lemon or lime in them to add a little more flavor, without sugar.  Or, have you tried drinking naked coconut water?  I did not like the taste of naked coconut water.  So, I tried aloe vera juice.  I can't remember if aloe vera juice has sugar in it.  Anyway, I like the aloe vera better than the coconut water.  By the way, if you are tired of plain water, add some sliced lemons or lime to it.

Use chocolate or vanilla stevia to flavor your water or any drink. No calories and healthy too.
