Congratulations and best of luck to you.

I tried the patches, but had an allergic reaction to them or something.  But I've now been a non-smoker for 2 years and 3 months.  You start feeling better every day you wake up.

Nice!, I wish I were as successful, I don't buy them anymore but I always bum some off friends who smoke. . . .99.9% of them.

Great job!!  You have made it through the worst part of quitting as I understand (my husband quit cold turkey 4 years ago).  The hard part now is just reverting back to old habits and having just one, because that will pretty much ruin your efforts.  The best of luck to you  :D

haha, i do that too  :P

i tried quitting cold turkey and i was actually pretty successful.
the weird thing about it was, i didn't even decide to quit.
it had been on my mind for awhile, and then suddenly, i went for
a draw &strangely didn't even want it. it just wasn't giving me
what i wanted anymore...

and so i didn't feel the need to buy a pack for about three months.
slowly but surely (after a few spaghetti &garlic bread dinners
without having a cigarette right after!) i started craving it again...
and slowly but surely... i bought one pack and that turned into
two and so on.

i'm smoking again now, but not nearly as much.
not that its any better, but it makes me feel better about it,
considering i'm not desperate or cranky for one.
its an every now &again thing.

Ya know, quitting smoking is probably the MOST difficult habit a person is confronted with.  Aside from the "physical" addiction, which is bad enough, the psychological addiction is worse.  Associations trigger responses in the brain, i.e. cup of coffee, after dinner, after sex, after waking up in the morning, before going to bed at night, and the list continues.........we all perform these tasks (well, most of us do), but breaking the psyschological "chain" or path is the ultimate challenge.  How many times have we seen, or heard, of the outcome of smokers?  It ain't pretty.  We all know the health dangers, for sure, but even with cigs at about $6-$7 per pack(!), people STILL continue.  Thanks to RJ Reynolds, and their counterparts, their product will still continue to be marketed (and consumed).  But at least YOU have made a decision to stop contributing to their corporate profits!  KEEP IT UP--Good health to you!

Congratulations.  I know it's hard.  I quit after 15 years myself.  January 3 of 2007.

I'm sorry to say you will always have cravings.  But just keep in mind they only last about 30 seconds.  If you can distract yourself for that long you'll get thru them and be fine.

Grats on your sucess!

smoking killed my mom.  my dad lived to 94 even though he had smoked until he was 42.  I've lost over 12 friends who smoked for 30 years or less

i've never smoked and can not stand the smell of people smoking.  if you have never smoked the smell is awful.
