It depends on what we are having for dinner.

It depends on who is buying the dinner.  On Mother's Day, my hubby said he would treat me to dinner, and I chose Chinese food, which I ended up paying for because he didn't have the money.  He is a KFC person when he is buying the dinner.  I bought the three of us lunch once at Captain D's, and it cost me $25. When we choose to buy dinner, I buy Chinese food, and it costs me $6.  He takes me there, goes to KFC and buy dinner for my grandson and himself.  So, in that way, everyone gets what they want.

We never do anything real expensive but even a chain restaurant like Outback or Olive Garden costs at least $30 to $50 for a couple without alcohol or appetizers. Eating out is not cheap. So we don't do it often.

It depends on where we go and what we eat.  Probably for both of us anywhere between $35 to $60.  On special occasions, birthdays, Mother's Day, etc we always go to a really nice restaurant, and then it will cost a lot more.

If we are just eating out I think that we average about twenty eight dollars for the two of us.  Alcohol usually gets added and that will pump the bill up considerably...as does two children. I recently reconciliated our checking account for the previous year (something I hadn't done in twenty years of marriage) and was amazed that we were spending about eighteen thousand dollars a year on going out to eat!  A quick fix at McDonalds here, stop by Taco Bell there, Date night at a nice restaurant, breakfast burrito at the café downstairs,  dinner out with the kids...it all adds up!  We have cut back to four hundred dollars per month and are doing fine!

Its been a while since my husband and I have not we out to a regular restaurant.   When we do go out we get the cheapest thing and water instead of paying for soda or something besides water is cheaper.  We have been wanting to go to chili's we like the couples deals and there food is good.

A true meal out - not fast food - $20 to $30.
