It's very sad.  Glad they are in a warm envirronment, however.  The winters in many states are brutal for the homeless.

Yes, and the saddest part is that a large number of the homeless are Veterans.  This government of ours throws money like a running river at our enemies and the muslim brotherhood when they should be taking care of OUR OWN with that money.  It disgusts me.

It's very sad to homeless people, I hate to see people living under a bridge....there are far to many resources on this planet for anyone to be without a home....greed makes it hard for many.....

Really?  You think most people experience homelessness?  I've had to fight to not be homeless a couple times and I found that most people don't have any understanding of what it's like.   :sad1:

Donate to organizations and churches that help people survive the rough passages of their lives.  Offer your services teaching new skills or transporting those who need it.  In other words don't take pity, help.   :peace:

I read once the statistics on how many people are a two week paycheck away from being homeless and that was before the economy got really bad so I can't imagine now.  I can sure understand because I don't even have a house payment and can barely make my other basic bills like food, electricity since my hubby passed away last January.  I live on disability and have a state cell phone, no cable.  My only splurge is internet and I feel like I would jump off a bridge without that.  I do have to help my sons who don't have jobs but life is rough.

I know it is very sad to see homeless people in this world. The real problem is that is not their fault! Victims of violence, natural disasters,
economic unrest, critical shortage of housing or some other problem. You just have to prepare yourself for this 'inconvenient reality'. Many people camp out during good weather months and then hibernate during winter time...when it is too cold outdoors.

I agree that people being homeless, is a sad thing.  I know people have options if they are US Citizens and they don't have overwhelming problems with substance abuse or criminal records.

Resources are available to help people survive in society; however, some people are into "sabotage" so they aren't able to embrace and appreciate a good thing.  Some folks are also mentally ill and they don't know how to pursue available resources.

I'm grateful for my home and for everything that comes my way.
Have a great day!

They are people just like you and me, we were all created from the same dirt. Some are going down a different road, as for me I have been down it most of my life so i know what it is all about. Different thinks affect why a person can become homeless and usually it is not by choice or because they don't want to work. The best thing you can do is pray for them because nobody deserves to live on the streets, they get cold, tired and hungry and in the summer hot. It can kill them and does. It is a sad way of life, but hopefully they know that the Bible says, who is first will be last, and who is last will be first and there is a Kingdom up ahead to look forward to.

Our shelters here in Knoxville, TN provide a lot of programs for them to get off the street. It is sad but you know it's not just the homeless people. There are a lot of families going hungry that have a place to live. I know here they have told several times on the news that a lot of children only get a good meal at school and then when they go home they have nothing else till the next day.

How can we help the homeless?  What can we do?

Once you reach the point of being homeless, your resources are depleted and it's doubly hard to pull yourself up.

More than likely, most would help themselves if they could. But where do they turn for help?
  :dontknow:

I was reading the local paper today where it said 2 teenagers robbed a transient of an iPhone 5. I couldn't help but wonder what in the world was a transient doing with an iPhone.

It is sad to think someone who has worked their whole life can end up homeless but it does happen.  I wish the government would reward hard working people not people who don't work.
