From what I know of the whole Zimmerman thing, this is what I think. I think Zimmerman is one of those people that don't like black people. I think he is guilty and should be put away. Trayvon lost his life because of racisim.

I do not think Zimmerman is racisim. I feel he wanted to be a be police. He decide he was going to stop the crime that was going on in his neighbor. That one decision change his life forever and took another young man life.

I do not follow the trial, just what the media shows, I believe he took that boy's life.  Regardless of the circumstances, he should not have followed him period.  I do not care how big the boy was, he should have done what the police told him, if the boy was really looking for trouble then the police would have caught him, and he still be alive.

I want to believe that he will go to jail, but this is Florida, they let Casey Anthony out, who knows if they will do the right thing at the end, or will let him out on a technicality.  But I agree that the media has made a circus of the case.

I have watched it off and on. No matter who is guilty, it is a sad situation. :'(

The only thing I have to say about the zimmerman trial is that people usually get what they deserve.

The truth of the matter is neither of their pasts are squeaky clean. There is a DV incident in Zimmermans past. And some say he had a violent temper when he did security. That he would use excessive force. There are text messages from Martins phone talking about fighting. So I'm just going off of this situation.

I just don't buy Zimmerman's story although I want to. I don't want to think that someone could just kill a kid because he was paranoid thinking he's "taking back the neighborhood." That's just sad and makes me worry for my own brothers.

I have listen to the trial and yes I will be following it because Zimmerman shot the kid in cold blood, first of all he should have just left the kid along and did what the 911 dispatcher said, "don;t follow him", but he did and he needs to pay. (death penalty).

Whether it was murder or not, to suggest it was in cold blood is absurd.

I've seen bits and pieces of it but not the whole thing it's to sad to watch.  Also I thing if Zimmer does get in jail he should get life in prison not 25 like they're trying to say.

Knock Knock, Who's there.

One of the dumbest openings I have ever heard for a trial. A murder one at that...

There is no way a legitimate jury could vote for a guilty verdict of 1st degree murder at this point if the case were to be presented to them now.

People are now speculating about a 'lesser included charge' but that is very problematic legally, and would only be considered by the judge if she were fearful of 'political fallout' or something similar.

The facts are that the prosecution is without a case, at all! They simply cannot produce a single viable witness of sequence of events into evidence that point to guilt by Zimmerman in this case. The workings of Zimmerman's mind is completely irrelevant here regardless of if he were acting out of fear or some serious malicious machination. The LAW in his jurisdiction. 'the stand your ground' aspect should make this farce of a trial moot.

The prosecution here is not incompetent, they simply don't have a case, and it is embarrassingly obvious.

I have not been watching it much. I feel for the parents for the loss of their child. I want to feel for Zimmerman but I just can not seem to cause when I look at him his eyes sorta scare me like he is a conniving person and trying to hide behind the law to justify of what he did which was murder. If he would have just stayed in his car and report and keep a eye out till police came this would have been avoided but he wanted to be this police guy and I felt he was trying to prove himself and made mistakes. :-

have not watched to much of it.  catch up in the evenings.  I feel it did it,  he was not attacked by the kid.  He just didn't want that poor kid in his neighborhood.

I am one that has been watching the trial via TV. The case the prosecution is trying to make is pretty much what other posters have mentioned. That being that Zimmerman had premeditated to pursue Martin due to his 'wannabe cop' fixation. At best that is a very difficult thing PROVE, just as establishing the operation of another's mind in any case is. As of today, the prosecution has completely failed in this. The only hope that the prosecution has of swaying the jury opinion now is by the testimony of Martin's mother which can only be a 'sympathy plea' that can draw enough emotion from all the jurors to reach a guilty verdict. As Ms. Martin (not sure that is the name she uses now) was not a witness in any way to the actions that took place all she can offer is the emotional aspect.

Zimmerman, to be found guilty, must be shown to have decided with forethought to kill Martin and proceeded to do just that. With the medical evidence presented showing Zimmerman was indeed subjected to violence at the hands of Martin (cuts and bruises to the face, nose, and back of the skull) the prosecution must show beyond any reasonable  doubt that his use of the firearm was in no wise an act of self defense.

That is the status of the case at this juncture. The prosecution's own witnesses have done the defense teams job for them. By a huge margin the witnesses to this point has actually presented Zimmerman's case for him and done nothing in the least to support the alleged crime the prosecution has charged him with.

I haven't been watching it. Only what I read online. Here are the facts. Zimmerman got out of his car and pursued Trayvon after he was told by a dispatcher to stay put. A struggle ensued and Trayvon got hit with a bullet and died. I just can't see past these facts. No matter what Trayvon said when he was on the phone. Again Zimmerman pursued Trayvon. Trayvon did not pursue Zimmerman. He kept walking. Now this part is strictly opinion. My family and I were just talking about the case. My brother said he believed (and I agree) that Zimmerman got the courage to pursue Martin because he had his gun on him. I do believe he was trying to play cop.
