Daily Task - upset over wasted time - ISSUE RESOLVED!
« on: June 24, 2013, 07:29:06 am »
I just spent 30 minutes+ on CrowdFlower 1 cent task "Write Answers to Questions" CF has about 5 to 6 questions per page and I took several minutes researching and answering each question.  When it came time to "submit my responses", I was notified that I had "timed out" of the task.  NOWHERE DID THE TASK MENTION THAT IT WAS TIMED IN THE INSTRUCTIONS!  :BangHead:  :BangHead:

Helps/Suggestions appreciated ....

For those that have done this task ...
Question: Can I submit each question seperately?
Question: How much time do I have before I time out?

I'm not sure how long you have before you get timed out, but NO, you cannot do just one question and submit your answer, you must do the entire page...sorry :'(

@Nancy5, thanks for your reply!  I think I will contact CF Support over this issue so I can get further clarification.  Maybe they can make some changes!

I had this same issue happen to me twice. I posted about it on CF's support pages and for one task I received the credit I was due and for the second, I have not heard anything.

On a lot of the Tasks, you can find a Timer.  You'll see it in the upper right hand corner of the Task.  It starts ticking down from the time you click in to that Task (that includes reading the instructions for the Task).  If you go beyond that Timer, you will time out.

I've never been timed out but I can only imagine how frustrated you are. I think the timer is 30 minutes. I stay away from those tasks personally, they are draining and it's annoying if I answer all the questions but they don't like my well thought responses.

That really sucks...I would send in a complaint to Crowdflower. Their website has a way to contact them. That is what I would do since they are the ones paying you for the task.

Yes, I had that happen to me the other day as well. The only thing I figured out was that we are supposed to finish the tasks in 30 minutes or less. It is like you said some take way longer than 30 minutes. That is one reason I don't complete many of the question and answer ones. There was a timer popped up that said 30 minutes so that is why I think tasks most be completed in 30 minutes. Maybe someone will come up with a better answer.

There is normally a timer located at the top of the page if it is a timed task.  The directions may not say its timed, but the timer should give you a clue.

Sorry to hear you ran into difficulties while doing some tasks! I have done over 7000 tasks on this site and others and have found that there is a steep learning curve to figuring out the specifics of each task, but once you do, its money in the bank :)

I hope you didn't get too frustrated  :BangHead: but at least now you know the specific requirements of that task and should be able to run through them next time!! Good luck and be strong and attentive and you will do well on tasks!

You can find me hanging out on Google :)

I think there is a time limit though.  I don't know that each tasks different or not but the task that I've try always have 20-30 minutes time out.  And is appear on the right hand of the task.
