Our family gets invited to a little party nearby and it seems like every time my we go there, my mom makes fruit salad and no one seems to eat it.  I've told her that maybe we should bring something else if no one wants it, but I can't really come up with anything else to bring.  Any ideas of things you all might bring to a small community party.
When me and my family are invited to block party we like to bring potatoes salad and a pound cake. I notice that most of the people don't eat pound cake ice cream so for know on i will bring drinks ice, cups, spoons, napkin and etc.

I bet if you bring a big bowl of strawberries and a can of whipped cream more people will like your pound cake.

Kraft seems to have a lot of good recipes of things that would take 10 20 min to make. Also some of those Philadelphia cheese recipe videos we watched had some good ideas.  8) :)

Depends on what the weather is like if it is hot a cold fruit dish or finger foods that are cold. If it is cool then good old mexican food. Although a great fresh green salad is my favorite.

Everyone loves finger food! Little appetizers go over wonderfully at community parties. A really simple vegetable tray with raw veggies and some ranch dip. You can also do the same with fruit. Melons are another summer fruit that people love to snack on. The fruit and veggie trays don't have to be warmed either. People pick what they like and since everyone doesn't like the same things, you won't have one item that is left on the tray. Have fun with it! Party On!

I like to bring a baked-potato salad... Basically its like a regular potato salad except that it's made with some sour cream, bacon pieces, chives, and shredded cheddar cheese. It's different enough from other potato salads so that if someone else brings potato salad, people will still try both. And the flavors are something that almost everyone enjoys.

This sounds pretty good so I Googled it and found lots of recipes. I never even heard of it before.

In addition to other suggestions, other "popular" dishes at our gatherings are: brownies (who doesn't like chocolate?), taco dip w/ chips (especially if the taco dip is homemade), jello salad, tortilla roll-ups.

The jello salad I make is really simple - 1 contain of Cool Whip, 1 package of jello (your choice of flavor), a can or two of fruit (whatever you think would go well with the jello flavor).  Mix all up in a bowl, put in serving container and chill.  Sometimes I add a small container of cottage cheese.  My favorite combinations are Orange jello with mandarine oranges, or Lime jello with pineapple.

The tortilla roll-ups are something I learned from my step-mom - she makes a cream cheese/sour cream filling (adds shredded cheddar, olives, salsa, etc to the mix).  Then spread the mix over big flour tortillas, roll them up, chill in the refrigerator.  Then cut them into bite sized pieces before serving.

Just bring a variety of chips and dip. Can't go wrong with that. Everyone likes some kind of chips and dip.  :)

I don't understand why people won't eat it.  It would be cool and healthy!  Maybe different (in season) fruit or a different presentation (dish) would help.  A vegetable tray might be another idea.
