He would get bored listening in on my. I am very seldom on the phone But when i am it is only my business what i am talking about. I can bet you big brother would not let us know what he is talking about on his blackberry. All of the underhanded things he has done to us. And is doing to us. I have never seen so much backstabbing, underhanded, wheeling and dealing and all of the lies and blame games in my life. Lord help the next president straighten things out if it can be done. I am ready for the 2014 senate to be changed so the demorats ( not not the wrong spelling just the way i feel) get out of power. They are so afraid of  the pres.  Put some new people in congress and get his you know what away from so much power.

I agree 100% with the above.  Every day it's something worse than the day before and nothing is ever his fault.

If you have not seen it, do so! "Enemy of the State" with Will Smith and Gene Hackman, it is a great movie made in 1997-1998 and deals with this exact subject, spying on US citizens and being done so by political operatives to get things their own way. Remember that this movie was released in 1998!!! Every person in grade school should be required to watch this thing and do a report on it!

I've never been bothered by the thought of "someone" is listening to me and watching my actions.  I don't do anything that I would care that anyone knew about.  Besides that, I am watched over and listened to every second of every day by my mighty Lord.
Have a wonderful day!

Funny, but I used to joke about being listened to on the phone. When a call would come in or I'd make a call, I'd hear a "click." One day I was talking to my foster son and heard the "click" and laughingly said, "If this is the government, move along. We're only talking politics."

Since this data mining crap hit the fan, no more "clicks" on my phone. Wonder why. Could it be because I'm only getting telemarketing calls now? LOL

As for the Patriot Act, yes, it was signed into law by Bush BUT Obama expanded it to include all that you see happening today. Accordingly, they still need warrants to listen to the calls, but I don't trust this government any further than I can throw our 109 lb. lab (which I wouldn't do that anyway).

What really gets stuck in my craw if all these scandals and the FBI Director(Mueller) can't even tell the committee who is heading up the investigation of the NSA (is that the one?) because HE DOESN'T KNOW!!! Now, that's ridiculous. Thank heavens he's stepping down in Sept. Hopefully, it will be someone who will take the bull by the horns.

All these investigations going on tells me one thing: The left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. No one seems to know what's happening under their own leadership and our President runs away from all of it.  :angry7:

Just because records from phone and internet companies are stored for business purposes does not give the government the right to look at them for whatever reason they see fit.

actually it does and you gave them permission to do it. it is in the service contract you signed. the companies have to give access to all records the government asks for if they have a warrant, which they got. why is this a shock to everyone, it was not a secret. we have know for years. i watched a 2008 episode of ncis where they talking about their access to cell and data records. at least the president is following the law, which is aviable to anyone who wants to look it up. it is not a crime just because you are not paying attention.

My point is that the government should not have gotten that warrant in the first place. They should not have that right. Nothing more, nothing less. I'm not saying it is a crime, but it should be. We are still a country founded on freedom, and the bigger the government gets, the more that seems to be forgotten.

I know we will never agree on political things joker. Even in the past when I posted and debated almost everyday, we never did. It is blatantly obvious that you are a liberal for big government and I am a conservative very much against it.

name one freedom you have lost. how can you say you are not free just because there is a log of a call you made along with the 4 or 5 billion others calls made? what make you that you are so special that someone in the big bad government is actually going to give a crap what phone calls you made or emails you sent? so no i don't care if a computer program scans the emails i send looking for trigger words as long as it keeps my family safe from the people who would use the technology to hurt innocent people. i might be inclined to listen to your point if it were based on any facts or rational reasoning not paranoia.

and yes i am a liberal, and damn proud of it, just like our founding fathers, like those who helped free the slave and end womens sufferage. liberals are the ones who do the things that make this country great and conservatives just try and hold us back

I did not say I have lost freedoms, I just fear the country is headed down a path where some will be taken away. Maybe it is paranoia, but it is a real fear I have. And no, I do not think they are listening to me specifically. Even if they did, the only thing of interest would be me bashing Obama and his policies and hoping to God the country does not get run completely down the crapper. It is simply a matter of personal freedoms. I am just scared of what is to come.

I assume you mean allow women's suffrage, because ending it would mean women not voting. If I recall, Lincoln ended slavery and he was a Republican, which is much closer to conservative views than liberal ones. As for the founding fathers, they were not liberals nor conservatives. Their ultimate goal was to create a country where the people were not ruled over by a king or dictating government, but ruled by the people and for the people. People should be able to live their own lives, how they thought it should be lived. The Articles of Confederation was the first choice to be America's founding document, which showed just how much they wanted a small federal government and bigger state governments, which is today's conservative view. As for conservatives trying to hold the country back, this may have something to do with the fact that we are trillions in debt. The government cannot afford to save everyone who does not wish to help themselves, especially with others' tax money. In my opinion, the founding fathers wished the people of America to be able to fend for themselves, without mountains and mountains of governmental aid. The bigger the government gets and tries to make us depend on them and depend on others help instead of our own, the closer we get to becoming a country of socialism. I suppose that is my biggest fear. That one day, I will be working my butt off to support everyone else in this place. Maybe that makes me selfish, but so be it. I understand that many people need help, but far too many take advantage and it scares me to death.
