Teachers should be appreciated during the holidays too as well as during Valentine's Day, not only during Teacher's Day.

Teachers definitely deserve thanks. They work hard, worry a lot about each and every student, and never escape their jobs. It goes home with them, on vacation with them, and keeps them awake at night. They definitely need to be appreciated.

Why not just an employee appreciation day? Or Tax Payer appreciation day?  Did you know that we work well into may for free-this is the portion of our income that goes to taxes.  I look at the amount of taxes taken out of my check to pay for schools to be in operation and am somewhat amazed. My son went into seventh grade testing out at a twelfth grade level in every subject. At the conclusion of eight grade he was testing at an eleventh grade level in just about every subject. his first homework assignment this year was to number pages in his note book..seriously. For this I should offer thanks to someone who only works nine months of the year?  I think the whole crew should be monetarily penalized.

I don't have a problem with appreciation days.  It is like Mother's Day or Valentines day.  Some people get honored and some don't.  No big deal.  Not worth whining!  Anything to make any person feel special and loved is great, in my opinion.  If you want others recognized, by all means, do it!!!  I leave my mailman a drink and a little snack a few times a year with a thank you note.  I gave the housekeeper at the hotel a free magazine subscription last week.  Small things matter... for teachers, too!

Some teachers are mean, but a lot of teachers deserve the best. I had some awersome teachers.

I have some aspirations to be a teacher in some capacity in the near future, I will be looking forward to a perk like this .
