how old were you when you learned how to do laundry ?

I was probaby 7 or 8 when I started doing laundry. This was over 25 years ago and I remember getting 25 cents for every load of laundry I did.

I was horrified when I started living with my first boyfriend and he had no idea how to do laundry.

I believe I was 12 or 13.  My mother had a friend visiting from TX.  She stayed at our house for a week and was than traveling to Europe.  My Mom woke up before school and told me she decided she was going to Europe too.  She gave me a 5 min. crash course in doing laundry.  I went off to school and that night my Dad asked me what I was doing.  I said, "laundry."  He said, "since when did you start doing laundry?"  I said, "since Mom taught me this morning before leaving for Europe."  My Dad was HOT!  He had no idea she had been planning this trip.  ... I won't get into that drama...I remember Mom using these big rectangular boxes of powder detergent from Sears.  I don't know how she avoided powder dust all over the laundry because when I took ours out of the dryer there were clumps of powder.  When I got out on my own the only time I purchased powder was when I bought dreft.

I learned when I was in grammar school, but I didn't actually do my own laundry until I was 15/16. Lol

About 12.  We lived in a town house apartment and my mother bought a small washing machine that you filled from the sink.  That washer lasted for years.

My brother and I started doing our own laundry at a young age but I don't remember how young.  My Dad did his own and we started doing our own because my mom worked a lot and that is what everyone did to help her.  She did her own because she wore "office" clothes and she did the whites/towels.

I can’t remember. I think I was in my teens when I hand-washed my own laundry. We didn’t own a washing machine back then.
