finding the best job for you

I have been laidoff for sometime now and im not liking it one bit, do not get me wrong i have been working but not doing what i desire to do. What i have came to tell myself in between employment and not being employed is that i wont be happy doing anything but what i like to do so from this day forward i will only apply for positions i know i will love and hopefully the company dont go under. That has happen to me a few times

Like I tell my friend if you can't find a job you love to you then you must take one if it's offered to you.  As we all know jobs are hard to come by these days.  They used to be a dime a dozen and really easy to get but wow that sure has changed.  Best of luck to you in finding what makes you happy.

Hello I know it's hard to find work with the way the economy have been going. I'm very fortunate to be at the same job for six years now. I do think it is important to do a job that you will love. You spend a lot of time at work you mate as well enjoy it. It's just hard to find a job that you love and can pay the bills. I hope you find the job of your dreams. Good luck.

Ideally you'll be able to find a job you love. But if you have bills to pay, you might have to just take whatever job you can find, and if it's not the one you want, try to find something better down the road.

Yea I say chase your dream job or something in your field. I did and finally got a career than a job. I was doing security and it was such a dead end job with no growth potential. I know its hard out here to find a job but someone will eventually give you another chance. Don't settle you will not be happy.

I am kind of in the same boat with you except I have only been unemployed 2 months.  I worked really hard (and spent a lot of money) to get the education needed for my field.  Since I lost my job I am unable to find something I will enjoy that is within a reasonable commuting distance.  I would move where the work is, but I just bought my house 2 years ago and the stipulations of my loan do not allow me to move for a few years.  I wish I could find something close to me and not have to throw my education away on something I am going to dread doing every day.  I'm kind of stuck on what to do and have been trying to think of other jobs that would be acceptable.

I think I have found a job that have met my current needs its 10 to 20 hours a week and like 8 an hour. but it works around the hours that my husband is currently working. and gives me the experience that I need and I can have something to add to my resume when I am ready to look for something more.

myself and my fiance need to only work for ourself so we can be happy. u see.. i'm not maternity leave. we work at the same place and we do completely different jobs but even so, we get really stressed about about our jobs and dont want to go back to work when we have to. i need him home with me and i want to spend all the time i can with our baby while he is still this little. he needs me.. not another to take care of him. i miss my man when he is working and i feel better when he is here with me and i would like to see him happier. we both want him to get fired so he can get on unemployment so he can have some time off work and somehow i need to get fired without them fighting me on my unemployment but i dont want to purposely do something to get in trouble coz in order to do that .. it would be an illegal action and i dont want to get arrested. see, i am a telephone banker for chase.

Good for you. Find something you're happy with. I gave up that dream some time ago and now only concerned about the next job offering that pays more even if I have to work undesirable hours. I have people I have to support and instead of them suffer I will do what I can to retain our standard of living.

It would be great if everyone had a job they were happy with. However, this isn't the case with many people. When I began wotking for the first time, I started out in fast food. As the years went by that seemed to be the majority of the jobs I had. Eventually I found I job that paid well and had benefits. I worked there for 7 years and was let go. When I was hired there and got settled in, I told myself I would never work fast food again. I hated it. When I was let go from that job, I searched for 4 months for another job, but couldn't find one. Finally I had to do what had to be done and started looking at fast food again. So here I am back where I started. I am thankful, though, to have a job to pay bills and support my family. Eventually, I will go back to school to get a job I really want, but for right now I need to focus on my other resonsibilities. If my experience has taught me anything, it is to be thankful for what I have.

I was in the same position for a while. After being laid off  for what seemed like forever, I took a job that I can honestly say I hated. The only good thing was it paid the bills. Now I'm doing something I like while still searching for something I will love.

I would highly recommend taking some time from your day and making a list of what you want your dream job to be like.  Be specific like what type of pay you want and what type of environment you want to be in and whatnot.  Keep adding to it and changing it over time.  It most likely will never be complete but that's ok.  You'd be amazed how it may go in a completely different direction than what you originally thought you should do.

My one friend wanted to help people so she went into nursing.  Well, she worked in a nursing home and saw that most people didn't really care to help all that much.  She wanted to change jobs cause she wasn't enjoying herself but she was worried her parents wouldn't approve.  Finally, she decided to change to cosmetology and she is so happy now since she gets to make others feel better.

Additionally, having this list tends to focus your thinking so while you look, you can narrow down you job choice.  Plus, you'd be amazed how sometimes a job just comes out of nowhere that fits exactly what you want.

I'm unemployed as well, and the longer it goes on, the harder it is to get a job. I guess it will take hitting rock bottom in order to change things around.

I understand you want to be happy at your job, no one wants to work at a job they hate.  The only problem is the way the economy is now, jobs are not a dime a dozen.  For every job opening there may be hundreds of applicants applying for that position, no matter how "crappy" you may think it is.  Today you will find people with college degrees working at fast food places because the can't find a job in their field.  I would grab any job I was accepted for, you can always keep looking and if you find your dream job you can always quit.  Good luck!
