Mah Jongg
« on: March 19, 2013, 06:10:45 am »
I learned how to play Mah Jongg last July.
It is a challenging game and good for the mind.
It seems popular, yet it's hard to find players.

I know absolutely nothing about Mah Jongg but, I would like to learn about it. All I know is it is a game played with something that looks akin to domino's except it's Chinese characters. Could you tell us more about it? You didn't say much. :)

Mahjongg is a block game where you match blocks and receive a score for them.  I have played several versions of Mahjongg and it is fun; you don't get a lot of time to solve the puzzle.

I play Mah Jongg Safari on Pogo. I don't get as many tokens from it as I do from other games, but it is still fun to play. I am always trying to solve the puzzle in less time.

I play Mahjong Safari and Garden Mahjong on Pogo - fun!

My mother gave me her Mahjong tile set from China.  I don't understand the instructions (they are in English) as they are rather confusing.  It looks like it's for four players.  Apparently there are leagues for this game. Goodness!  I'd love to be able to play it (and play it well) so I could join a league.  That would be fun!

I've probably been living under a rock then, because I didn't even know the game existed. I got somewhat intrigued now, and will try and find some info on it and play it, to see what is all about. I like games, specially challenging ones, and it ticks me off that said game is apparently very popular and I didn't know a thing about it.

I like Mah Jongg, but I've only played the single player version too.

I used to deal a mah Jongg game in a casino years ago. I can understand why it would be hard to find players. Maybe you could advertise on cragslist.

My wife plays Mah Jongg often. I think the object of the game it is kind of like gin or gin rummy but with tiles.   :dontknow: That is probably very oversimplified. I think the suites are something like stix, *bleep*, flowers and characters. There may be more and I don't know how many of each suite there are. Also there are many variations on the rules and scoring.

I don't know how to play it. I don't think I've ever tried it before.

This is the internet, learn to let people have opinions. And don't be so sensitive.  8)
