do you talk to your neighbors?

Im just wondering if most people do because I do not much not because I dont like them because they are sweet but I just dont talk much. What about you ?

Our next-door neighbor is our best friend.  He was the best man at our wedding 22 years ago.  We talk to him, obviously.  There are some other neighbors that we talk to if we see them outside but we don't call them on the phone unless something major is going on.

We speak as they go by in thier cars, my closest neighbor is 1/2 a mile away.

No i don't talk to them very much, some of them i don't even regularly wave to.

I sure do.  It just seems like since we live in an apartment complex, everyone is so close together that I just feel safer if I know who's who and in that my neighbors became my friends.

My neighbors are nice but I hardly say anything to them unless they talk first.

We have never lived where we talked to our neighbors and the couple of times we did it wasn't pleasant - have always had problem neighbors.  Now I live in a rural area where I am not close enough to talk to anyone although I tried talking to a couple at the communal mailbox but it didn't seem like they wanted to get to know anyone and that is fine - I like to stick to my self and I have friends and family to associate with.

No.  I will wave to the lady next door if I see her out which is rare.  I especially don't acknowledge the hillbilly's across the street.  I really wish they'd move with their damned barking dogs at all hours and them parking their cars in front of my house when they have plenty of driveway.

   no we don't really talk to my neighbors that much!!  its usually just a wave hello or goodbye, we I am pretty lucky cause I only have a neighbor on ` side of my house

Sometimes. Not  so much the one in front of me but the one in back of me I talk to more often.

Living in an apartment complex, I like to get to know my neighbors. There are 18 2-story apartment buildings with about 16 units in each building in the complex.  The 16 apartments are divided into 4 groups of 4. I know the people in the other 3 units in my group well and surrounding people well and some not so well. It is far easier to ask for help in a crisis situation from a person you know than from a stranger. If they know you and you know them, you tend to look out for each other a little more. Like the other night, there was a guy just pounding on the door of one of my neighbors. I hadn't seen this guy before. He was drunk and had an interesting vocab. The neighbors were not home. He pounded on the door. I called the police. Turns out it was the ex-husband, trying to see the two boys whom CPS had forbid him to see. I kind of suspected  that was who he was, I knew from the neighbor that she had been divorced, and Dad was a nasty piece of work especially when he had been drinking.

I don't know their whole life stories, nor do I tell them mine, but I tell them enough so they know when something is not right.    

So yeah I like to get to know my neighbors.

I'm a 'front yard neighbor'.  I will talk to them if we happen to be out in the front at the same time.  I don't like to talk to people if I am in my back yard by the pool, and I don't have any of their phone numbers, so we don't talk on the phone.   

I used to live in a neighborhood where everyone was close.  We had block parties a few times a year, and everyone's kids were all in the same sports, so we all went to the same games and parties.   As the kids grew up though, everyone sort of drifted apart and moved away.

I have a few neighbors that I talk to, but I had a breakdown a few years back and don't really try to get too close to anybody anymore. We moved not long afterwards so I really don't know alot of people even after 5 years.
