Oh wow! that is not good. Texting should really punished while driving because things like that are a real serious matter and people can really get hurt.

I am so sorry to hear that you, your husband and your daughter have to go throught this. I hope that she has learned her lesson.  They have programs for cellular phone whereby the phone can recognize your speech and type and send the text for you.  They also have programs that will shut your phone down while youare driving (I, personally, like this one). I have several conversations via hands free on my way home from work which minimizes the distraction while driving but I still recognize a little distraction at about the same level that I would encounter if I were speaking to a passenger oin the car.  Good luck with your situation...I hope that it irons itself out fairly rapidly.

Young adults just don't want to listen I tell my son all the time when your are driving don't answer your phone don't text because its illegal and someone could get hurt. Thats why I don't put my son on my insurence because he lets everyone drive his car and I don't want to be responsible.  He is 21 now but I still have the same problem, sometimes they have to learn the hard way but hopeful not killing anyone including themself.

Maybe if the laws had let people hold up the cell phone to their ear to talk, there wouldn't be texting so much.

I don't know about that. I don't see people actually talking on their phones much any more, whether or not they are driving.

It's unfortunate that many people simply just don't learn that driving and texting, like drinking and driving, don't mix. In this case ignorance is not bliss, but deadly. :BangHead: :BangHead: :BangHead:

I think some of the problem is teens or young adults think nothing bad will ever happen to them.  You can talk and talk to them, but we as adults don't know what we are talking about because they " know" everything.  Sadly sometimes something serious has to happen before they realize you are right, driving a 3000+ pound car and texting can and might kill someone, but then sadly it might be too late.

Wouldn't it be so nice if the smart phone was smart enough not to work while in a moving vehicle.  Maybe in the next couple of generations of phones and cars.

When will we learn? My step daughter has just caused a 3-car pile-up in LA by texting on her smart phone! Luckily no one was seriously hurt, but the damage to the vehicles are extensive and this has impacted on my husband's monthly contributions on his car insurance (it has been raised dramatically). Also, he has to pay $500 excess for the damage. All this because someone posted a photo of her on Face Book.   :dontknow:
here in Indiana, there is a ban on cell phone use while driving, but people still do it. here in Kosciusko County, IN, back in 2009, one of the sheriff's deputies, Jeff Shaw, was killed when
his Sheriff Interceptor was hit by a truck driver that was using his cellphone.

Can't operate a cell phone unless it's handsfree in california. Against the law, but people still do it

once in awhile, I accidentally catch my girlfriend while she is driving her car and I tell her "hey, I will call you later sweetie".
one time she left me a message on FB and she said "sorry I couldn't talk" and I told her "no problem, you did the right thing".

I hate that so many people get hurt and even killed because of texting.

If I had to make a message board the message would read, smart people don't use
smart phones while driving.
