driving and texting
« on: February 28, 2013, 03:44:10 pm »
When will we learn? My step daughter has just caused a 3-car pile-up in LA by texting on her smart phone! Luckily no one was seriously hurt, but the damage to the vehicles are extensive and this has impacted on my husband's monthly contributions on his car insurance (it has been raised dramatically). Also, he has to pay $500 excess for the damage. All this because someone posted a photo of her on Face Book.   :dontknow:

Oh jeez, I'm so sorry.  And the FB thing - UGH!!  Why can't people just leave things alone???  Anyway, yeah, texting and driving - I see it all the time!  If I'm a passenger in a car, I look out the window and I see people texting away while driving.  I'm glad I revoked my teen son's phone as he would definitely be one to text & drive.

Too often, people just think that it won't happen to them.  They think that they can do both safely.  Sadly, it sometimes takes a disaster to change their minds, if the accident leaves them with one.

You should never text and drive. I've seen too many accidents because of it. It's a shame  :crybaby2:

If daughter caused the prob w/the insurance maybe giving her the responsibility for it would teach her a lesson. When you don't have to be responsible for things like that, you tend to take for grated that some1 is working to pay that insurance off. Better yet take away that smart phone. Obviously, it wasn't smart enough to prevent your step daughter from getting into an accident while texting & driving! We, think we can multi task do things at the same time, we can but not every well. Texting while driving should be band state wide we don't have the skill to text & drive at the dame time & more accidents will happen in the future.

I have enough problems trying to talk on the phone (but hands free) while driving. I am a very slow text messenger, but I cannot see how people can do both anyway to begin with.

It started with the cellphone, someone hit me because she was talking on her cell phone, but people don't remember what started it... driving and texting is just an offshoot of that... we should JUST drive and do nothing else... :BangHead:

I am glad no one was injured.

I received a very Eye Opening video regarding Texting and Driving.

Here is the link to Youtube for everyone to go watch.

Because humans are basically stupid beings they never think it will happen to them.  In their arrogance they think it's just fine driving a 2 ton car in traffic and texting, looking down to read the message.  They will never learn until it is fully enforced.  People aren't suppose to be talking on the phone up to their ear, but I see it everyday.

So sorry to hear of your step daughter stupidity.  I can't stand it when people are doing things (like eating, texting, talking on cell phones, etc.) other than driving. That's way we have so many accidents and traffic.  People are just not attentive to their driving..doing everything but drive. So annoying.
