indoor gardening
« on: February 27, 2013, 06:53:36 am »
There are a few ways to set up an indoor garden: hydropnics, aquaponics and aerogarden.
There are companies that have made compact systems that fit on a kitchen counter.
I have seen a couple of examples:
The Smart Garden [aquaponics]
Aerogarden [ choice of sizes]
These "vehicles" do nor use any soil.
I have also seen a SproutMaster Sprouter to grow your own sprouts indoors.

I grow wheatgrass and herbs indoors without using soil.  I do not use any sophisticated systems to grow them.b

I have a three tier growlux. But i don't hardly use it anymore as i now live in town and don't grow as big a garden as i used too. So i now support our local farmers market. The cost of water is so high in town, So unless i grow tomatoes i don't can as much. I just love to eat fresh veggies and fruit. It just taste so much better.

We have a few indoor plants, but I've never tried any of those systems you mentioned. Mostly we just have flowers, nothing edible. During the spring we plant a big garden, which is one of the perks of living in the country.

IT WOULD BE A GREAT IDEA TO HAVE AN INDOOR GARDEN IF YOU HAD A PLACE TO PUT IT.

We live in a condo and we have a indoor garden it is not big and it does not take up alot of space.  It is in one corner of the living room.  I have herbs, lettuce, and micro greens.  I have also started my plants for my patio in the summer so I don't have to purchase started plants.  It doesn't take a lot of time and it doesn't take a work.  I enjoy them and they add to the items to that I can put in a salad and it is always fresh.  and everyone in the family gets involved in it.
