My suggestions?

1.) Nintendo DS
2.) Book + candle
3.) Tell stories with the kids

Usually when the light goes out, I wait it out.  The last time the light went out, my hubby and I were already in bed.  I do remember that the lights went out one time from 10:00 am to 3:19 am the next day.  That was one night that was not easy to bear. :) ???

If I were lucky enough to be at home when the power went out then maybe I could finally have a great excuse to get some Zzzz's. :D

Light some candles and wait for it to come back on.

I have a smartphone so if I still have Internet I occupy myself with this. Otherwise, I just talk with family and eventually just go to bed early.

I agree; it is according to what time of the day it is.  If late at night; go to bed, if not. play games, read, play cards, tell stories.  There are lots of ways to find things to do. ;)

We have flashlights and candles. We usually play board games or something. Sometimes we just talk.

Several weeks ago, our power went out for about a day and a half.  It was bitter cold here and my boyfriend had to hook up a generator to the house.  We had heat and the stove worked, but that was it.  We lit candles, I could use my computer as long as the battery held out but there was no internet.  Mostly, I worked crossword puzzles with the help of a flashlight.  That was a long couple days!

I have a lot of candles and a woodstove, also a couple of oil lamps so I can make do if the power goes out which hasn't happened for awhile here.
