Exactly!  I have a teenage son who was trying to find new friends online, but he has a hard enough time finding them offline, and I told him that some online people are not who they say they are.  He's a minor, so I'm quite protective of him - especially when it comes to the Internet.

on sunday i reunited with an old friend. we had a falling out 5 years ago because i would come to her wedding coz she doesnt come to my events. we put that behind us and hopefully she'll come to my things now.

I don't see anything wrong with looking for new friends.  A "best" friend might take awhile to achieve.  You start out as an acquaintance, then become a friend, then a really good friend,  then you can become a "besty!"

It's ok to get to know new people, just be slow about knowing them and if you realize you can't be close friends with them, remain friendly with them and just keep your distance....
