I know I wouldn't like it if someone was smoking at the same fast food place where I'm at. Its disrespectful and not very healthy for those of us who don't smoke. I hope people are not allowed to smoke at fast food places anyways.

I would never eat somewhere that allowed smoking without restricting it to a certain section. I can't stand the smell of smoke.

With all the information available today, I can't imagine why they would want to. 

I can tell you one thing, my quitting is what let me outlive both of my younger siblings.

I smoked for about 24 years before I quit and its really something how your sense of smell and tastes awakens after quitting.  I can't stand the smell of smoke at all anymore and it gives me a headache too.  We have a 35 year old daughter who still smokes and even with all the available information about the dangers, I doubt if she will ever quit.  Its a real shame too as she has 2 children that see her slowly killing herself by smoking.  I know that it is all a mindset to quitting;  I had even tried hypnosis to quit but I wasn't really serious about it until I read the warnings on Nicorette gum.  I had just put the very first piece in my mouth when I read the label;  I spit the piece of gum out, ran water in the pack of cigerettes I still had and never smoked again.  It just came to me that I needed to quit!  I keep hoping something will open our daughters' eyes to the fact that she needs to quit.  My parents had smoked for over 50 years when they quit.  Of course they both still died from cancer but I feel like they would have died sooner if they had not quit when they did.

I quit July 4th, 1964 and I consider that my personal Independence Day. Like I said earlier, I feel that's the reason I am still alive at 74 when my brother died of lung cancer at 58 and my sister of COPD at 62 (both from smoking). Back when I quit they didn't have all the fancy drugs, I just made up my mind and did it after 12 years of puffing as many as two packs a day. I had quit for about a month when I got a huge urge one night out shooting pool and drinking beers with my buddies, but I bummed a Camel from one of them and it only took one big drag to end my desire FOREVER. That dang thing almost gagged me and after I quit coughing I put it out quick before it snagged me again.

I've never smoked, and I've beat the odds in that respect because both my parents smoked and my sister has smoked since she was about eleven or so, and shows no sign of stopping.  Frankly, I'm glad I never started.

I have a niece who is now battling stage 3 lung cancer in her mid-40s.  She is on aggressive chemo and radiation.  I started smoking when it was more fashionable to smoke.  It was shown in all the movies and TV shows.  I was also one of those who thought it was my right to smoke.  Not anymore.  When I quit, I was one of those people who can't stand the smell of smoke now.

No, I don't think people should smoke in any enclosed building as it forces everyone else to inhale the smoke too.  Even when I was a smoker, I felt nauseated by the heavy smell of smoke in places when it was legal to do so and was so glad when it was banned.

I cannot stand the smell of cigarette smoke anywhere near food stuff - fast food outlets, restaurants, cooking in the kitchen........and I'm a smoker.

No, I don't think people should smoke in any enclosed building as it forces everyone else to inhale the smoke too.  Even when I was a smoker, I felt nauseated by the heavy smell of smoke in places when it was legal to do so and was so glad when it was banned.  

It doesn't "force" everyone else to inhale the smoke. If you don't want to inhale the smoke then you have the right to simply leave. It should be up to the owner of the property to determine whether or not they allow people to smoke and not the government. Places like restaurants are not public buildings, they are privately owned by individuals. If you hate cigarette smoke (as I do) then the simply avoid places that allow it and looks for places that ban it and take your business there.

not really. Indiana has a statewide ban on smoking in public places everywhere, and it went into effect on July 1st of last year.
