I was raised in a poor household, and so was my husband.  I do try to get some things at cost.  He, unfortunately, makes it sound like the end of the world.  People who are rich can go and purchase anything they want without reprisals.  I understand what you mean about being mad about money.  It is one of the reasons I joined Fusion Cash.  If I get a check at my address and my name is on it, it makes me feel better.
