My son caught it at school (40 years ago) He got scarlet fever and then 4 heat murmers afterwars. He was never one for telling if he was sick. Did not want to miss school. As it was he missed 6 weeks. Had to hire a tutore for him. Thank God he made it. We had to keep him at home to nurse him and send his little brother to grandmas for w weeks. So take care of the little ones and yourself. Meds are a lot better now.

Not sure what causes it but I do know it's contagious!  :-X

Keep your distance when people cough, don't drink after anyone or hug/kiss! Wash your hands multiple times a day, eat veggies/fruits and drink lots of water!

I used to get strep throat every year during Christmas break.   I haven't had it since I was pregnant though, and ironically, my son has never had it.  I don't know if it's because I had strep while I was pregnant or not, but his doctor told me he is a carrier of strep, and that he never has the symptoms.   I have to watch him though because if he is exposed he passes strep by and goes right into scarlet fever (I didn't even know scarlet fever still existed).

Don't forget to throw out your toothbrush near the end of your antibiotic series so you don't reinfect yourself.

Some people think they have strep throat when they actually have mono.  Whenever I have something that could fall into a bacteria or viral infection I approach it in the same way.

I use garlic in my food to kill off viral, bacteria, fungus and parasites.  I increase my vitamins A, C & E and I drink yarrow tea while I snack on crystallized ginger.  Yarrow is anti-viral while ginger is an anti-bacterial herb.

Have a great day!

when I was 14 I got strep 8 freaking times through out the year and when I was 15 I had mono. Now over 10 years later every time I get the symptoms of strep the dr. gives me the strep test, with the horrible swab to the back of the throat, and it always comes back negative but the dr's always say there's nothing else it could be but that...it's actually happened to me about 4 times...strange huh?

Had strep twice this year, it was not a great time.  Lived on ice cream, orange juice and lost ten lbs.  Still don't have much of an appetite back.  I use a ton of hand sanitizer, always used bleach in the dishwater, take extra vitamins and still got sick for over a month.   :angry7:
