Tornadoes

I remember as a child living on my grandparents' farm, our family frequently had to go to "the cave" (cellar) near the front porch because of tornado warnings in the area.  For a kid, it was an adventure and I can still recall the musty smell of that underground cement bunker and the scent of a kerosene lantern.

My family used to tease me that my birthday was I JINXED!  We often had to go to "the cave" on our farm on my birthday.  It was a cement bunker in the yard that had big wooden doors and then cement steps down to the underground cement room.  Cobwebs, spiders and that musty smell...Yuck!!


Luckily the "spell" is broken.  There hasn't been a tornado or threat of one on my birthday for many years.
Good thing too, since the cave was removed when they widened the gravel road by my parents and paved it.

I grew up with hurricanes but moving as much as we have I've had tornadoes close, but luckily, never been touched by one...

me too, luckily we live in an area where there arent too many of them here.  we do have to worry about hurricanes though

we have water around us but it the river and the bay dont get to many hurricanes its usually downgraded to tropical storms by time it gets here

Live in Texas but fortunately very barely our place hit by tornadoes,, Thanks to God!

We had the tornado siren go off today, it was just a test so that is a good thing.
