We have carpet in our home now, but when it's time to get rid of the carpet I am going with hardwood floors. I think its much easier to keep clean and would be better for someone with allergies, (which I have)

I love wood floors!   The dust and crud that gets caught in the carpet is just nasty!!!

We have hard wood floors and they look pretty and are easy to clean but like you said I miss carpet because it does make it more homey and comfortable!

Both. Carpet for the bedrooms and living rooms, and hardwood for kitchen & bathroom floors.

Hmmm, I love the feeling of a nice *bleep* carpet under my feet but I have only wood floors in my home. My aunt Has both carpet and wood floors but will be building a new home shortly and refuses any carpet. There are pros and cons to both. Carpet is soft, warm, comfortable and a good heat insulator. Though it is more time consuming to clean, can get stained, some dogs/cats like to pee and/or scratch on them, dirties faster and could with hold smells. Wood floors are easy to clean, won't stain, don't carry dust and dirt the way carpet does. But wood floors are not as warm on your feet can swell/lift if too damp or wet, after years will start to make noise and crack as you walk on them, they fade with sun. To each their own. I prefer wood in my home, just find it easier all around.

I love carpet because its warm and comfy but with dogs I think wood is way cleaner. You can pick up spills very easily and just seems way better what do you guys think?
I always prefer carpet to wood floors.  It feels better on the feet

I hate cold feet so I like carpeting.  I've had dogs and cats so I own a steam cleaner.  I would think claws would be hard on wood floors, but they do look good.  I grew up with throw rugs and hate them.  Besides animals don't understand how to navigate them very well.  For hard flooring I'd be more prone to vinyl or ceramic tile.

I prefer carpet but it depends on the room. Have hardwood in the entry and den but it's the type with v grooves so not as easy to clean. Usually want to put a throw rug down for comfort anyway. Never had anything but linoleum or tile in the kitchen.

We have hardwood downstairs and carpet upstairs. I like how much easier it is to wipe up a mess on the wood floors, but hate getting out of bed on a cold floor. We don't wear shoes on the carpet in an effort to keep them cleaner.  I do hate how when the sun hits the hardwood you can see any dust or dirt.  I feel like I need to sweep everyday. They both have pluses and minuses.

We used to have carpeting, but I got so tired of cleaning it.  When we made our most recent move to our retirement home in the country (my husband's parents farm that he inherited), we took out all of the carpeting and installed hardwood floors.  Much easier to clean, and we can use rugs where we want.
