What do you believe in ?
« on: February 07, 2013, 08:16:47 pm »
Do you pray?
Do you read the bible ?
Do you believe in God ?
If you answered yes to these three questions. Then what are you worried about.

1.)Nope.
2.)No.
3.)Which one?
Besides the fundamental stress-makers, I'm enjoying life and am happy  :)

I will pray on your behalf cause you will not make it in life without prayer.

Ah ok- nevermind that I'm in great health, have a loving family, great friends, education, job, etc. I'll never make it if I don't pray to your ancient sky god. Makes perfect sense. Do yourself a favor and take more time to personally pray instead of posting illogical pretentiousness.

Do you think of yourself as an agnostic-theist then?

Let me just suggest that "reading" for your second question is not enough to deal with people's worry.  I'm perplexed by your logic.  Wouldn't someone also have to believe and understand what they are reading as well within the belief system you are espousing?

I'm just willing to admit I don't know.  But I am fairly certain no one has ever been magically born or come back to life. I don't think magic underwear were ever found in the woods. And if there is a God, given the tiny size of earth compared to the rest of the universe we are a pretty insignificant part of the plan

Even if there was a super natural being that exist outside reality, we wouldn't be able to prove it with conventional evidence since evidence itself is rooted in reality. So why bother assume such super natural beings exist to begin with? Even if you assume such a being exist, you couldn't know anything about this being without an increasing risk of being wrong.

Here's a handy chart to help anyone who is on the fence about his or her religion or non-religious beliefs.

For me, it really just depends on what kind of takeout I'm in the mood for

That's pretty much my take on it. As illogical as it is, it's understandable why people believe such things. Some cannot fathom the idea of themselves potentially being so insignificant on a universal scale. It is scary, but some people can accept the mysteries of the universe and have confidence in the here-and-now. Because rationally there really is nothing else to cling to. If people want to believe in a god/gods/aliens/the metaphysical, I really have no problem with it. But when they start defining such things and preaching them as ultimate truths, that's the problem. For instance I'll beat a dead horse and state the obvious- the fact that people can call a book that's 1000's of years old, starts with a talking snake and ends with a 7-headed monster non-fiction just shows how shallow and out of hand it can get.
