living in the boonies really sucks. 4 miles out of town, and no vehicle. talk about a bad time.

Fortunately, I have the best of both worlds... I can drive in 1 direction and head to the country and small towns, but I live on in a small suburb so can go to the city in the other direction.

I live about 6 miles from town. I would not want to live any closer. In fact, I'd love to live farther away.

We're out in the boonies too. It has it's pros and cons. It's very beautiful out here, but I'm a city girl at heart. I hate having to drive 30-45 minutes to go to the grocery store, dry cleaners, etc.

I doubt I could ever live like that. I need to be in the city. I like the country to a point, but not on a full time basis.

I love living in the country. We live about 3 miles from a small town, and about 5 from another small town, so we really aren't in the boonies. I would not like to live in a remote area where the nearest town was 30+ miles away. That's how far the nearest small city is from us now. But I certainly wouldn't want to live any closer to a town or city.

Four miles from town is hardly what I would call the boonies lol! I used to live out in the country and was 23 miles from town. Compared to others who also lived in the country I was "close to town" lol!

I can see where it would be bad without a vehicle but you're very lucky to live during a time when you're not totally isolated.  I would think that it probably makes it pretty special when you do get to town  ;)

Yeah, that's not easy without some kind of transportation. Well, you can enjoy the quietness of living that far from town!

The not having a vehicle sucks cause it is so inconvenient, but living in the boonies beats living in the city by a long long way.  I worked in a huge city for thirty plus years (even though I lived in the county) and now live outside a very tiny town....just love it!

Boonies aren't so bad....as long as you do have a car.  So sorry to hear of your position! At least you have a home!

I've had close neighbors and I don't want them ever again if I can help it.  I don't like having to drive 20 miles to get to a Walmart etc. but I have a grocery and bank within 5 miles so that's not so bad,
