WWE in a Christian perspective
« on: February 03, 2013, 03:32:00 pm »
I used to watch the WWE and one of the wrestlers, John Cena, had a gimmick where he would wave his hand in front of his face and say "you can't see me" when he would rap to
one of his opponents. we Christians cannot see the enemy that we wrestle against. in addition to Satan tackling us to the ground, we are also wrestling against dark powers and
principalities. wrestling was first in the Bible when an angel wrestled with Jacob and touched the hollow of his sinew, and then Jacob was renamed Israel.

Really?  So you don't think it was just a gimmick in a very staged "sport"?  That it had some deep, metaphysical significance?

yes, the wrestling of today is staged. I feel sad for Kurt Angle, who was the gold medal winner in the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, who 3 years after,
sold out to the WWE. so, to get back on the subject, what is the significance of John Cena waving his hand in front of his face and telling his opponent that he
cannot see him?  by the way, none of those wrestlers could take a real punch out on the street. have you noticed that they all hit like girls? put John Cena in an
MMA fight and see how long he lasts.

I'm not sure.  I think I'd rather wrestle with the Devil than Cena, Orton or The Rock...

Yes, the wrestling is scripted but so are the movies that are played in theaters.

Waving his hand in front of his face is something John Cena kept from his heel (wrestling term for villain) gimmick.

Maybe some of them can.
