How do you prepare your taxes? I use taxact, but wonder if turbo tax is better.

I have used Turbo Tax for about 5 years now and I really like it.  It's fairly straight forward and there are versions for even very comlicated tax situations.  I plan on using it again this year.

I've have use them both and they are both very good. I use the online where I don't have to purchase them. For those that like to go some where and do them there is a free place Vita free tax preperation all you have to do is call united way and make an appoint and they also do it efiled at no cost. I know because I volunteered two years ago to help.

I have used H&R block online for about 10 years.   Every now and then I switch over to turbo tax to see how it is, but I think I'm just comfortable with using the same program that pulls all my info from last year and I just fill in the blanks.

When I filed taxes I all was used H & R Block. I have used this product since 1997 and it always works geat for me.  I don't file any more for myself but I use it for everyone else I do taxes for because the program gives 5 free efile and with the delux it offers one state so I can do everyone. I am doing my Mothers, brother, sister and her boyfriend, my son's and his girlfriend, and there room mates, I am also doing my mothers in home aides taxes.  I also help people who are eligiable for property tax credit or renters rebates.  I do my husband and I's and I am doing a neighbors, and one of my parents rental person.  I know alot about taxes and I have a degree in accounting.

I have been using TaxAct for over five years and I love it. For me, it's worked great, so why switch now?

I like Turbo Tax... it can be a bit more expensive, but I like their software the best and the fact they store all your old forms on their site and have a great import feature.

Neither, I'm a bum, lol. I've had a tax guy since I started paying taxes. The best part is he's only about $20 more than Turbo Tax, but I don't have to stress (which is worth the money on its own) and he's certified to stand before the IRS for me if I ever get audited. I doubt I'll ever get audited, though, since he's been doing my parents taxes since before I was born, and they haven't been audited once since he started preparing their taxes for them. I'm big on DIY, but this is one of those things that I have no problem turning to a professional for.

Even with some of these software programs, if you don't have at least some tax knowledge you could be missing out. Not as straight forward as they would like you to believe.

We have our taxes prepared by a CPA.  We have an online business and we have business properties so we want a knowledgeable tax preparer working on our taxes.
