Is it mandotary to pay taxes
« on: January 29, 2013, 05:12:45 pm »
I've heard once we earn $600 we have to pay taxes. My question is; Do we have to pay taxes? If we do; what form do we fill out? My next question is; do we have to report this income to IRS? :o :BangHead:

I think it is $600 within a given year.  I don't have to worry about it.  I don't get that much on any survey site I work on.

You need to earn at least $600 dollars on any given site or job before you have to file taxes for that venture. Unless you're a big earner, don't owrry about a thing!

That's not accurate. The $600 threshold is for 1099's, which has nothing to do with your reporting requirements. An individual is required to report any and all income starting at your first $1 of income.

if you make more than 600.00 you should get a 1099 misc income form which you will have to report on your taxes. The difference between this and regular w2 income is that there generally is no taxes taken out of 1099 income.

I do not worry about if I have to pay taxes.  I just enter any additional income on the form and whatever is the result is the end of it.

I always get confused when it comes to this kind of stuff also. I guess the only way to get a straight answer is to call the IRS or go to the website.
