The million dollar question eh?

I feel that automatic rifles and especially extended clips  have no purpose to be possessed. We do have our right, but things like that are weapons of war, not of hunting/sport.

Beyond that, good background checks, mental systems, family conversations, and responsible possession/storage of weapons is a start, but this is not an easy fix unfortunately. :(

I feel we are headed towards a communisted society. Unfortunately, I believe that this will be the only way the government can attempt to control gun control. Because as long as people can gets guns so easily,  killings, especially copy-cat killing sprees will continue. As we all know from the past history of the world communism control is a bad situation for all of us. All I can say now is AMERICA WILL NEED TO TURN TO GOD FOR HELP AND GUIDANCE  :angel11:

It seems like everyday that i turn on the tv or watch the news their is another shooting.  we need to have tougher gun laws and it would probably be better if the media didn't broadcast it so much.  If they weren't so quick to put it on ever channel multiple times a day then we might have less of them because those that want all the attention by killing people wouldn't be getting their fix anymore.

I think I sorta agree with you.  Maybe some of what these people that go on a shooting spree are looking for is to get their name on TV?  Maybe if they didn't spend so much time showing it on TV and making these "shooters"  instantly famous, it would slow down a bit?  I'm just saying.....  I still believe that guns don't kill people, .... "people kill people".   Don't think gun control is the answer!

Even with better background checks the bad guys out there are still going to be able to acquire the weapons they need to do their bad deeds. Outlawing certain weapons or accessories only means that the good people out there will no longer have these things but the bad people will. Its like drugs. Only the people that truly want those type of items are going to have them.

Some type of action has to be taken to try to put an end to these senseless mass killings.  If stricter gun control laws dont make a diffrence then we need to keep focusing on this problem until we find what does work.  We can no longer continue to just ignore it and wait for the next one to occur.

Ignore it? You honestly think that with all the police, federal government agencies, and non-profit organizations we are ignoring the problem of gun violence? As a society, we are doing a lot at keeping gun violence at bay. I apologize if those efforts are not 100% perfect and they don't prevent every single gun crime in the world. I agree that we shouldn't stop until we do eradicate it, but there's a good chance that wont ever happen (and thus will always keep trying). To say that society is ignoring the problem of gun violence is a completely false sentiment. In fact, I can think of some things that society can do less that will help curb gun violence (and any sort of violence for that matter).

Some people stubbornly insist on the right to bear arms. So let them carry weapons if they want, but we should not sell them any bullets. Without bullets, the gun is worthless.

The biggest thing would be to end the war on drugs, which is the cause for a lot of gang-related violence (a large portion of which involves the use of guns.)

Same line of logic, you're simply banning something else. If you're going to ban bullets, then just outright ban guns. Banning bullets doesn't refute any logical argument for the legalization of guns. The same arguments use to support the legitimization of guns can be used for the legalization of bullets. Also, if you ban guns but not bullets then the bullets become just as worthless.

It is really a sads day in this country. It seems that things have just gone wild. However, we need to stay focused and understand that what we see happening is not the norm. Prayer is the only way out for this country.
