Scared to give out my number in surveys
« on: January 12, 2013, 05:45:32 am »
Does any one have a problem with giving out their phone numbers online? I do because in the past when I have on surveys or offers, they start calling that same day.. making my phone is ring off the hook.. about wanting to further my education, wanting to offer to sell me a car or the need to refinance my mortgage... ect.. Im leery of giving that information out but some surveys insist in obtaining it. What do you suggest I can do to not get annoying calls that call every hour of the day!!

Sign up for a google number. It is free. You can give them that number. That way you can screen the calls online and your personal phones will not be spammed.

It's never been a problem for me and I've been doing this since 2009!

I don't think its a problem, however the last two days I have gotten 3 random phone calls - I haven't answered any of them.. so I am not sure if its cause of a survey!

Since I am a Verizon hostage to the bundle, I have to have a landline with my cable/internet service - but don't need it.  So I only give out my landline phone number - but don't have a phone plugged into the jack.  I only use my cell phone in the real world, so I never hear the phone ring when I have had to use a legitimate phone number on a survey.

I am not comfortable giving my number out either, so there have been some offers that I won't complete.

You can use a Google number for any phone you have.  I have one that rings my home phone & my cell phone both and I can answer either.  I have to have a landline for my husband's medical needs so my cell is a Tracfone used only when I'm really mobile :)  You can also call anywhere in the US toll-free with a Google number.

I always use a number service. I forget which one but it makes it easy because I would never want to give my number away
