Are you an organ donar?
« on: January 11, 2013, 07:53:19 pm »
I am.  We have a close friend on the transplant list.  So hoping he makes it until an organ becomes available. Please consider becoming a donar if you haven't already.

I am. It's not enough to be signed up-you also have to discuss that you are with your loved ones so they are aware after you pass.

Well I found this one organ in a back alley. I picked it up and I took it to an organ doctor who specializes in these organs. He said it still could be used. After 6-hour restoration procedure, he got the organ so it was ready to be donated. The church loves using the organ on Sundays and are even taking pictures of it....
I was lying in bed the other night, looking up at the stars, and thinking, "Where in the heck is my roof?"

I'm not an organ donor.. I don't like the sound of being scientifically dissected or experimented on.. even after i'm dead.. Being a smoker, I really don't think my organs are suitable for any one anyways. I rather live life to the fullest taking advantage of all my organs then when I die, I rather be cremated.

Where do you sign up to become a skin and tissue donor?  I've never heard of this (pardon my ignorance).

Yes and also skin and tissue donor.  The whole shebang.

I know many who feel this way, and although you have the right to your personal choice, may I ask you a question?  What if you or someone very close to you suddenly needed an organ...... where do you think it'd come from?  I also find it ironic that you care about what happens to your body after you die but you smoke while you are living  :dontknow:

I am a definitely an organ donor. I have always been a giving person and I know that when it is my time to go, why not give someone a part of me, that could allow them to live on longer and happier. Seems like we all take forgranted the power of life(I am guilty as well), but life is so precious and every day here on earth should be used like it! If you are not an organ donor, I agree you should consider it! You could save the life of someone who desperately needs it!

:star: Well if one of my family members needed an organ from me and I had one to give-- I would gladly give it. (family member).
Other than that I'm sure a needed person of an organ will do fine with out mine. In my job of doing credit applications showed no shortage of hearts on their I.D's or driver license. and well I enjoy smoking .. not chain smoking though. I guess it comes down to .. Id like to be there to see what is done with my body.. If I cant be there, than let me ferment the earth and dust let me return to ..

Yes and I've been one for years, as are most of my family members.  My thinking is I'm dead, what good are my eyes, heart, etc. to me anymore, but they can possibly give a blind person sight, a person my heart so they can live, my kidneys, liver, etc.  I did not will my body to science, I think family members (or me anyway) need a place to go to visit a grave.
