For me, a resolution is a person's resolve to start or stop doing something and a goal is a task to be achieved so I still think of them as the same thing. If a person makes a resolution to stop smoking, lose weight, or save money those are still goals. That's just my opinion.
I think resolutions usually aren't achieved because they aren't really taken seriously. People get anxious because the beginning of the year signifies not only a new start, but also the realization of getting a year older and they want to do something to better their lives. A resolution can be made at any time of the year, last year on March 12th I resolved to lose weight. I didn't start until March 14th but since then I've lost 26 pounds and have 9 to go. I personally think spring is a better time to set the outline for goals than new years.
Did you set any resolutions? How's it going so far? I'm working on being more forgiving and sticking to the disciplinary action I give for the kids and not cutting it short for good behavior.
I have always thought they were one in the same but in a way they are totally different. One is set once a year and many of us do not take the resolution seriously. But when we set goals in our life we all work hard to achieve that goal and in a certain amount of time. I set both and I just make sure they are simple enough for me to get to the larger goals I want and or need.
Building a strong family, gaining more joy in marriage, but many of us are just seeking meaning and purpose of a happy life.
What are your thoughts???
