Have you ever had a stalker and if you had what was the most outrageous thing they did?
Yes, I sure did. It was when I was living in NY and used to take the trains to get to work. At a certain point in the ride, just a couple of stops away from where I would get on, there was a man that would make it a point to seek me out on the train. He was well-dressed, always in a suit. He would enter the train, then go through the cars looking for me. He never said a word to me, just watched me.
At first I thought it was my imagination, so I did nothing. But day after day, he did the same thing, and on 3 different trains (that's how many I took to get to work in Lower Manhattan). At one point, I even decided to trick him. When he entered the car I was in on the train, I left and went in to another car when he turned away from me for a minute or two. At the very next stop, he again started looking for me, found me, and entered the car I was in! Again, this man never said a word, just stared at me and watched me. By this time, I was no longer amused. His antics had gone on for WEEKS and even when I made a conscious effort to get away from his stares, this cretin would follow me. It was then I decided to do something about it.
I waited for my train to drop 99% of us off on a street called "Jay St." This station was an indoor station that was ALWAYS crowded with passengers waiting to get on their next train in to Manhattan. Before I did anything, I made sure I melted in to this crowd, just to see if he would seek me out once again. Sure enough, there he was, just about 10 feet away from me, craning his neck and standing on tip toes just so he knew where I was. I smiled to myself because now I was ready to rock his world. I stood there, stared at him, and started yelling and pointing, "Hey, you! Yeah, YOU, over there up against the pole!"
EVERYONE turned to see who I was yelling at. As they all stared at him, I yelled, "Stop following me! You've been stalking me for weeks and now I've got a platform full of people who KNOW what you look like. You don't know who you're dealing with and if you don't stop, you'll find yourself in a world of hurt."
This man was SO embarrassed by what I did, he never followed me again. Long after I had forgotten the incident, I was entering the elevator to the building I worked in in Manhattan. Low and behold, who was in that elevator but HIM. I was PISSED. I STARED at him until he got off. I found out he worked in the same building on another floor. He never said a word to me, nor did he ever follow me again. He's lucky. I would have hurt him if he ever continued or started again and I think he knew it.
It was incidents like these that made me very aware of my surroundings. It hardened me even more to the fact that there are nuts all over the place. I was always prepared to knock somebody on their a$$ if they ever thought they could get funny. Hehe - I guess you can say I've seen PLENTY riding the trains of Manhattan. Everything from FREAK SHOWS to SCREW *bleep* to a guy wielding a gun and shooting up the place. You're definitely not at a loss for entertainment living in NY.
