why do adults drink alot

some just drink for the taste, not to be drunk. my boyfriend loves apple cider beer but he doesnt drink enough to get drunk.

Usually it is to help with decreasing inhibitions in social situations or to help relax and relieve stress. In itself drinking isn't a problem but if you rely on it for normal functioning then it can present a problem.

Social drinking is very acceptable to most individuals.  Some that drink alot have varying reasons for it.  It is hard to tell what the reason is unless you know something about the person and their life.  Some drink because they are depressed, some may drink to escape reality and dull pain.  Every person has a unique reason for why.

Mostly to hide from their responsibilities and their screw ups.

Because it's a peer pressure way to have "fun" and fit in.

I think mostly to deal with problems and for stress relief. I honestly don't drink that much, but some people become rather addicted.
