online vs the store
« on: December 07, 2012, 08:19:57 am »
We were shopping for my twin grandsons and trying to find them some jeans. I didn't like the prices they had in the store so I checked online and believe it or not they were cheaper online than in the store and that includes shipping also. So I will probably shop online form now on.

I have chosen shopping online over shopping in the stores for years now. first of all, you avoid all the crowds which I no longer enjoy, you have access to hundreds of stores without having to use up your gas to get to them.  You can compare so many more prices to make sure you get the absolute lowest price and around the holidays many online stores have offer shipping.  The items come right to your door and all you have to do is wrap them.  What could be better.  Amazon.com and Ebay.com are my favorite sites to shop.

I love shopping online, but for things like clothes and shoes, I'd rather buy them at an actual store because I want to try them on.
Unless it's a gift for someone else, then I'll buy it online and return it if it doesn't fit.

I love online shopping.  I really hate crowds at Christmas, first until you find a parking stop, then try to fight the crowds!  There are a lot of stores that offer free shipping, so that's how I buy most of my gifts.

well it is more fun to shop in a store for gifts around the holiday season, I find it a lot easier and I am able to get what I want better if I shop on-line

I think both forms of shopping have their pros and cons. I do a bit of both.

I had never shopped on line till our youngest daughter got me to order her a comforter set online that wasn't available in the stores.  Then, I would order occassionally online but when she became engaged, boy oh boy did we do some online shopping then.  She found things like chair covers, isle runners and numerous other things online that were a lot cheaper than hobby lobby or any of the other stores that carry wedding stuff.  Saved us a lot of money.  I'm still a little hesitant to put credit card info out there but I usually end up doing it if I need to get a better deal or just can't find what I want in a store.

I like to do all my grocery shopping in person, but living in a small town it is so much easier to shop on line as long as you don't get carried away. As i age i just don't really care for large crowds anymore, and i don't like to be rushed.

I myself prefer shopping online. Prices online are cheaper you can get things online cheaper than you would in a store and personally for me it more comfortable i dont have to get all dressed up to go at a store to buy something. Online i can remain in my pajamas if i want to look like a mess :) .. and still purchase something. Plus internet seems to have more variety i find it more fun shopping online than shopping at a store.

I prefer store shopping. You spend more than expected shopping online. Also, there are more items available in the store than online.

i really, really hate paying for shipping, so it depends
on what i'm buying. if it's an online-only thing, i usually
try amazon first (which seems to have the best deals out
of any site)... but if i can find it in stores, i'll go that route.

Are you serious? This statement is 100% false. Anything that can be bought at a store can be bought online now (Even food, just go check amazon). The store CAN be more efficient if you buy more than a few items since shipping cost does add up for items that cost about the same (or more, of course) as they do at the store. But if you can buy a pair of jeans online for say 10 bucks with 4 dollar shipping, but jeans at the store is 15 dollars then no matter how many pairs you buy online they'll still be cheaper than the store. Plus if you buy online, it may save you some gas money.

I prefer shopping online to going in store as well. The only clothes I buy online though are shirts and jackets. Things like jeans and shoes I need to be able to try on before buying. But movie shopping is a big one of mine online. I can always find the movies I want cheaper there than I can in store.

Online for me its better then taking the hassle of buying gas just to go to the mall to find out that the thing you want is out of stock.
