Subway death

So - what another tragic story about the man dying in the subway and the photographer/other bystanders "standing by to watch" for 23 seconds- thoughts? Would you have tried to save him? Should the bystanders be criticized for it?

This story just makes me sick. How can mankind be so disconnected from one to another?

I wonder if ANYONE tried to help

I know everyone is being criticized for not helping. However. I guarantee that I would've gotten pulled right down with him had i tried. If you dont' have the strength and a good grip, you aren't going to be able to do it. He was pretty deep in there.

Sad News Indeed, What I think is without a person leading to save/help that one helpless person down on the rails no one will move up to save/help, it is as what that photographer said [A Frozen Moment] The frightening scene as a person is about to get hit is frightful and can stall your movements in shock.  I don't like the photographer though trying to earn money for his picture of the helpless person. That's just my thoughts though Agree to Disagree. ><

That's what I was thinking when everyone started to criticise the photographer. He may have died as well getting pulled down. It's sad that it turned out the way it did. The disgusting part of the whole thing, to me, is that the newspaper corrected then printed the image and used it to sell papers. That's just horrible and extremely disrespectful to the family, heck, to humans everywhere.

Nothing surprises me any more.  It is very sad that this happened but I don't feel like the photographer should be criticized for taking the picture.

I wouldn't have been able to help him physically as a woman, but I have no doubt in my mind that my weight lifting hubby would have jumped right in there and pulled the man out. It only would have taken ONE person to at least TRY to save the dude...then maybe other people would have been like, "Hmm, perhaps I shouldn't be such a sh!tbag by just standing here."

I'm glad they now have the man responsible for pushing Han, in jail.

The photographer was just trying to get the Conductor's attention with the flash of his camera.  Unfortunately, it didn't work.  Having lived in NY and rode those same trains, it's near impossible for the Conductor to have stopped that train in time before hitting the poor guy that got SHOVED on to the tracks.  He was mere feet away from the train.

From what I understood, there was some kind of confrontation with this man and another guy.  At least this is what the news in AZ showed.  It was then, in my opinion, that others should have stepped in because by the time this guy wound up on the tracks, the train was too close and there was no way anyone could have saved him in time.  It was a very chilling photo, indeed, and I'm sure people who witnessed this won't forget it for a very long time.

I think your first reaction would be shock.  I don't know how much time he had from the time he was pushed until the time the train was coming maybe it was only a few seconds.  I don't know if it would have been enough to save him anyway but I wasn't there so I can't honestly say what I would have done.  If there was no chance to pull him up I wouldn't have risked my own life to save him then two of us would be dead.

WOW How sad! I don't think I could just stand a see someone hurting or getting hurt.

Even though I'm a woman that's 5'2" that weighs 130 something lbs I STILL would've tried to help, I don't think I would've been able to sleep if I had saw that and not done anything to help.  Now if the people were in shock, that's understandable. Sometimes when you see things that shock you you literally can't move.

you never know what your going to do in a situation like this until it happens ..i jope i would be brave enough to help but i dont know
