Don't be so quick to judge!
What is that saying,  "Don't judge others until you walk in their shoes!"

Well, You have most likely heard the saying also "If you were to walk a mile in my shoes, You'd have a better understanding of where I'm at"....  That's Right !!!  A mile away and I'd be barefoot.

It is very sad to see people who you know have no home, no place to lay there head, or gather with family or friends. There is so much of it now, wouldn't it be a wonderful thing if it didn't exist.

I hadn't heard the follow-up story about the man who got the shoes, but it does sound plausible that's he's a veteran who was recently moved into his own apartment from a half-way house. Some half-way houses, especially in big cities with better resources, actually have their own set of apartments that they move people into on their way to independence. In recent history, though, I think many of the homeless are in hotels. Out here in Cali, there have been a few newspaper articles talking about the number of kids living in hotels because their families lost their homes.

Interestingly, one of the reasons homelessness seems so much bigger in large cities is that neighboring areas generally "dump" their homeless there. In the nicer parts of Orange County in Southern California, the cops sometimes pick up homeless people and drive them into L.A. County because people in million dollar homes don't want a homeless person sleeping in front of their home. Sad, but true.
