Unfortunately.  I love buying people gifts, but I don't always have that much to spend.

I have limits but, now that you mention it i begin to see it. I think it has more to do with me than with the person except I only buy gifts for people I am feeling good about. I may spend only what I have saved for the Holidays.  I don't give cheap gifts and I don't give people gifts I wouldn't want myself. That's my rule.

Not really.  This year though will only be my pups kitties my hubby and his 87yr old mother in law and my self.  NO other family this year.  I have decided.

I am trying to heal and recover from this major surgery... so the stress won't do.

I am though... knitting scarves for all the wonderful people that took care of me.  :'( they were so good... all the way to the kitchen (2 bowls plain oatmeal... 2 hotwater 1 coffee extra slenda n creamer each meal... always extra veggies each meal...2 soymilks each meal... brown rice no seasoning n chicken each meal) they were the best!! i eat tiny meals... so having the extra keeps my blood sugar controled.

gifts to make for my new family <3

Happy Earnings!

We all have to have some sort of limit because of the finite nature of our resources. That relates to everything in our lives.  I have limited myself to not running over one hundred miles in races, not doing drugs, and having one day off per month with five day vacation two times a year.  It is harder to set limits when getting material things for my family because, generally, they are things that make my family's life easier.  New computers, clothes for school, trips for their sports all play a hand in my children's development so I would rather work extra hours, sacrifice, and help make their transition into adulthood easier.  I generally stay within limits for my wife which is at a rate higher than most wives are treated.

I don't have an exact defined budget when shopping for family and friends, but at least with my work buddies we do a little secret santa exchange where we put a $25 present limit (and no gift card clause).

We usually only buy presents for the kids in my family. It's a little easier than spending ourselves into debt trying to get something for everyone when we'd  rather just enjoy each other's company.

Not spending anything on Christmas presents for anyone.  So it saves me from trying to decide if I can afford it or not.

I think it's only fair to everyone to have a limit so they don't feel any less than another

Plennis, i don't want to interfer in your life, but if you are the sole caregiver of your husband and he cannot work Then he needs to get on ssi and you might could go to home health care and get hired as his primary caregiver. I know several men and women who have done it. However things go Good luck.
