why do people go back to college

I hold 3 degrees in 3 different fields and I am presently going for my Masters in one of them. This is to improve my job qualifications and teaching position.

Just to learn new things, I guess? I'm barely in my undergrad years currently, so I can't really say much about older people going back to college. maybe in this economy, since it's harder to find a job, getting more degrees or just picking up some extra skills makes you a much better job candidate. I know that's the reason I would choose to go back to college in the future.

I had gone to college after HS, but about 10 years after I graduated I went back to college part time to get my comp sci degree as at my job, our contract was under renewal and if I needed to look for a new job if we didn't win the bid, I didn't have enough experience in the field to be hired without a degree to back it up.  We ended up winning the re-bit, so my job was safe plus I had a degree to add to my resume.

Lately I've been toying with the idea of going back part time to get an accounting degree - so I can have that skill as a backup.

if you want to go back I think you should no matter what your age is.  I hate school.  Always have, always will.  I went back to get a degree a few years ago and this coming Monday I will take my three finals to be completely finished.  I did it because there were no jobs and I thought that a degree would help.  Guess what?  There are still no jobs whether you have a degree or not.  How's that hope and change working for ya?  I know it "aint working too good around here as I watch more and more people lose their jobs.

Some would consider going back to college for a sense of fulfillment, others for the need of knowledge, others for a chance at success, others are forced to, but whatever is the reason, I'd say there's nothing wrong with it, and there's only chance of improvement, so can get nothing bad out of it. Personally, I could find quite a few reasons why I'd want to go back to college, and I'd be totally fine with whatever is driving me to it, because I see only positives coming out of those actions.

I graduated with a bachelor's and had what I thought was a secure job for almost a decade. I got laid off and could NOT get a job. I was "overqualified" for most positions. I went back to school while unemployed to take some new classes in a different field, which helped me to get another job. FINALLY. I didn't take out loans the second time so no new debt.

I never went to any college but, I been thinking of going to one and possibly get a better job than what I have now. I just don't know how I can go to college when I have other responsibilities. So, I guess the next best thing to do is find a way to work from home.

I'm currently enrolled in an online college. People go back to school for different reasons. I simply wanted to further my education and build a career for the benefit of me and my children. This is something that I couldn't do without a college degree.

Education is important.  Whether you go back to school to learn or read a new book every week, the vital thing is to learn.  You do not necessarily need to go back to school, especially if you can read a book and try to take it to the next level and learn hands on.  The best teacher is experience.  It also does help to know the right person but for the most part, as long as you learn and try to educate yourself, that's all that matters.

It takes time and a lot of work to go back to school- it's a lot easier if you never quit. Starting college is easiest if you're starting right out of high school..

I have been in school for a long time.  I am in graduate school.  I just received my Master's degree.  I am in a lot of debt, and I really don't have anything to show for it besides my loss of sanity and the small amounts of discovering that I have made.  I stay in school because I enjoy to learn.  That is about it.   I hate working on the same job for the same people.
