I have never tried it.  I have tried many things, but raw fish, no can do.

There are plenty other types of sushi that have cook fish. :)

COMPLETELY COOKED. :)

Some with fried fish.

It sounds really good right now.. But unfortunately..

No money. :(

Make your own sushi, I do! But I use smoked salmon, cucumber, avocado, asparagus, tomato, other types of vegetable or fruit like plum, tofu, imitation crab meat or combine avocado plus crab meat (imitation or real) for a California roll.  Since you are broke you don't have to follow any rules. When I was broke I made sushi from a variety of vegetables and sometimes smoked salmon "parts" sold in the Pathmark supermarket in our area.

Contrary to popular opinion, sushi does not mean raw fish, sushi is the seasoned vinegar rice and may be made with many ingredients, including but not limited to raw fish. Sushi  is a Japanese food consisting of cooked vinegared rice (shari) combined with other ingredients (neta), usually  the ingredient which all sushi have in common is vinegared rice called sushi-meshi.  "...But sashimi is sliced raw meat (usually fish) and sushi is a vinegared rice preparation that can have a variety of toppings. In essence, sushi is a combination of rice and sashimi and it doesn't necessarily have to be raw fish..."

"...For the rice
3 cups short-grain Japanese rice, California or other short-grain rice (you can use long grained rice as well), rinsed, 1/3 cup rice vinegar, 3 tablespoons sugar, Salt

For the rolls:

10 nori sheets (dried seaweed), halved, Sesame seeds, for sprinkling, 1 cucumber, 1 avocado, 1 plum tomato  seeded 1 small red onion,20 asparagus spears, trimmed and blanched, Wasabi paste, for spreading and serving,1 romaine lettuce heart, (red onion)

    Pickled ginger, for serving"...

Since sushi is vinegared rice you can put any topping cooked beef, cooked chicken, (you can make them both) or teriyaki fish – yellowtail, marlin, skipjack tuna, salmon, trout, squid and mackerel or meat like duck, chicken, pork, lamb, beef, hamburger steak and meatball. (all teriyaki)

Or make inari sushi (brown bag sushi)

Japanese salty pickled cucumber, fresh sliced carrots, blanched cabbage leaves, cut hard boiled eggs, imitation crab sticks, cooked minced shrimps are good choice varieties for stuffing in a tofu pouch, combined with or without the sushi rice.

I love sushi! though it sometimes depends on the ingredients inside.. can't go wrong with spamasubi

laurindat do you put furikake on your spamasubi?

LOL Thank you.

Lots of people don't like rice, lol! Since sushi is just rice. Or do you mean you don't  like seaweed, which is not sushi it is just added.

Sushi does sound good. I had some today.  It is a little expensive.  I should try to make my own.

I have actually never had sushi. I don't like cooked fish, I cannot imagine that I would like raw fish.

I recently went to one of the resturants where the sushi goes around on a conveyor belt.  That gets real expensive because it all looks so good I want to try all of it.  We make it at home sometimes.
