Black Friday
« on: November 17, 2012, 09:03:28 am »
Is anyone going out next Friday on Black Friday and going shopping? If so, where? What are you looking to get?
I am looking to get another flash drive and wireless mouse.

I probably won't do that this year. My kids are getting out of the toy phase and prefer their electronics. They also enjoy picking their own toys so I may give GCards. We're going out of town for Christmas this year and GCards pack easier.

I don't think Black Friday deals are anything special. It's a lot of buzz for prices you can get at other times of the years without the long wait.

I definitely will be.  I have 3 kids and a limited budget so it helps us to get some nice things for them without overspending.  My husband and I are going to figure out what we are buying this weekend and then will come up with our plan of attack.  I may send him to Walmart and Target since they open so early and my kids like me to put them to bed (the youngest is still a baby and nurses to sleep).  The stores that open later I will probably do.  I will also be doing a lot of online shopping as many of the stores offer the same sales online and you don't have the hassle of finding a parking space or the long lines.  I think Kohls is starting their Black Friday sale online on Wed so I'm excited to do my shopping their before Thanksgiving :)

I've already got some things, well really most of the stuff for Christmas, but for everything else I will be either getting it online or randomly over the next month and a half.  We usually just shop for the kids and buy ourselves (my husband and I) something during the year.

Basically on the day after Thanksgiving I shop for all the deals on toothpaste, deodrant and washing detergent, dishwashing liquid, that mostly last me a year.  :peace:

I don't go to Black Friday.  You have to get up way too early and the crowds are too heavy. I have heard of people getting hurt at these events because everyone around them is worried about getting there first. I would rather stay home and sleep.

I have never shopped on Black Friday but I kinda want to. I'm a bit scared more than anything because I've heard stories of people getting stabbed or shot over some deal  :sad1:

I used to do Black Friday when I was MUCH younger!  It was fun.  But now, I'm quite happy to sleep through all the hoopla!

I do wish stores wouldn't try to "one-up" each other by opening on T-Day -- sort of spoils the fun of Black Friday, I think!

I am debating at the moment.  I'm looking to get a decent monitor without breaking the bank, so if I can find a few quality ones on sale, I wouldn't mind picking them up.  Though, generally speaking, I normally don't go shopping on these days, and if I do, I just go around the normal times, not with the early people.  Generally I can still get the same deals later in the day and then there are less people to fight.  Went with my dad a few years ago to get a new TV and it was really nice to see some of the prices slashed that much, though I've noticed that I can generally find some great deals over the year if you just search a bit.
