Lead pencils

Do you still use them? Lead pencils are also known as mechanical pencils. I prefer to use them when I was a student in school. I still do today.

i like to use them when i draw. the mechanical pencils
offer a much neater, smaller line which is great for
details. they're really good for shading too because
you don't have to apply much pressure to get the
lightness/darkness you want.
[ we all have a place in history. mine is in the clouds. ]

I liked them for a while but the lead always breaks so I prefer really sharp pencils.

I use mechanical pencils for my crossword puzzles.  I have to erase.  Not yet good enough to do them in pen.  I wouldn't be able to read the puzzle after awhile!  I suppose a lot of people who like crosswords do them online, but I can't seem to get into computer crosswords yet.  Nothing like a good medium level crossword from a paperback to me!!!!  Sometimes, low tech is better.

???  According to my dictionary lead pencils are "pencils of graphite enclosed in wood".  Mechanical pencils are mechanical pencils, not lead pencils.

I never cared much for mechanical pencils.  As an artist I much prefer the feel, function and even smell of lead pencils.

I am not sure of they are still made out of lead anymore. But I still love the traditional number 2 pencil.

:) I still use lead pencils. I also have a "dark spot" in my chest from my grade school days.

I will use a mechanical pencil sometimes. My highschooler prefers them but the fifth grader uses the old number 2 pencils' but with her we had her name put in them that way her class mates don't say they belong to them.( which is a big problem)

My work only provides the lead or mechanical ones and I personally prefer them to the conventional pencils.  My daughters prefer the mechanical one for school, say that they are easier to handle

I rarely use a pencil anymore.

When I write, I use a pen.
