I need to know if I can refer via e-mails? How do I register my friends? I am not sure if I am allowed to send my links to my friends via e-mail. I need to know because I have a quite few friends that I would like to spnsor or sign up. Please help me to achieve this goal.

Indeed!  You can also send emails to them directly (or from your address book) using the ShareThis buttons underneath your referral link.  It's a lot faster

  If I am not mistaken I thought the site refers this this type of activity as spam. Spam is not allowed. Please correct me if I am wrong. I believe I read it somewhere; sending your link via e-mail is considered a spam. I may be wrong.

Sending emails to your family and friends is not considered spam. They may view it otherwise though and ask you not to, but if you are just sending one "hey, check out this check I earned at this site..." email, they probably wouldn't be bothered. However, if you starting sending the link to hundreds of random people then it would be spam.
