Obama told thousands of supporters in Chicago who cheered his every word that "we have picked ourselves up, we have fought our way back" and that for America, the best is yet to come.

He vowed to listen to both sides of the political divide in the weeks ahead and said he would return to the White House more determined than ever to confront America's challenges.

"Whether I earned your vote or not, I have listened to you, I have learned from you. And you have made me a better president," Obama said.

The nationwide popular vote remained extremely close with Obama taking about 50 percent to 49 percent for Romney after a campaign in which the candidates and their party allies spent a combined $2 billion.

Let me just say this - I think the Democrats CHEATED AND LIED their way BACK IN!!!!  I don't believe a word this man says because for the past 4 years he has been SAYING THE SAME THING OVER AND OVER AGAIN!!!!!!!  WE HAVE NOT SEEN ANY REAL RESULTS YET!!!!  UNEMPLOYMENT IS STILL A BIG ISSUE, THE ECONOMY IS STILL IN THE TOILET, THE NATIONAL DEBT GROWS FASTER THAN THE WEEDS IN MY GARDEN, PEOPLE WILL BE FORCED TO DO WHAT HE THINKS WE SHOULD!!!!  SORRY, I CANNOT SEE THE POSITIVE IN ANY THESE THINGS!!!!!!!!!!

W e need jobs. Not government spending and being taxed reliously. Welfare is supposed to be short term not a lifelong investment. They should not have the obama phones. That is what lifeline was for, for those that cannot afford a bill. Everyone is already seeing the cuts for prescriptions, the docotrs that are allowed to see. We shouldnt have to leave our home town to be seen by a specific type of doctor.

Well, let me put it this way - I found Obama to be the lesser of two evils.  If the other candidate had won I think the poor and the elderly would SOL for sure.

Relieved. Glad to see that America is becoming more moderate/secular/rational than the religious fundies would have you believe.

Yes, there is that significant aspect of relief concerning the election's outcome.

I am elated that Obama has won a second term.  I do believe he is the best person to restore the middle class and work to create an America where EVERYONE has an equal chance to achieve the American dream,  Now that the Republican opposition sees that they cannot get rid of him even with the millions of dollars their supporters spent trying to do so, they cannot obstruct and prevent him from being elected to a second term,  and he will not be a  "One Term President", they may now start working with him to fix the mess they contributed to making of this country and accept his offer of bipartisanship.  They now have nothing to gain by not doing so. If they are being honest when they say they are concerned about the America they will leave for their children then the gridlock will have to dissipate.

I agree with you, I did not like Romney but I dislike more the POLITICIANS that are on both the House and the Senate and their close minded issues, they have to have it their way or the highway, I hope they heard what Romney said and work for the good of America and not for the good of your Party.

I am sorry you feel that way there is no such thing as Obama Phones, those phones are given out by the companies for people who need a way to have communication. They only get 250 free minutes, not much at all. Welfare is short term and not a life long investment. It depends on your state about where you have to go see a doctor. I am glad Obama won, they had already mess up the grant situation with college students in the Bush era, now there are a lot of people with student loan debts. At least Obama changed the student loan to government loans and you can work off your loan by working for a non-profit organization (giving back to the community). Also equal pay the Lilly Ledbetter fair pay act. I don't know if you are male or female but that is a great thing for the women in this country. There are a lot more things to come. President Obama has spent less of all since President Eisenhower. It's a good day today.  :peace:

It's one of the saddest days of my life.  Obama will destroy this country and you best start planning on $8 a gallon for gasoline as he promised.  Do you have any idea what that is going to do to the cost of everything?

If you're going to take something out of context and miscontrue it on that basis:

"The New York attorney general’s office is looking into whether gasoline offered through the Craigslist website for as much as $8 a gallon is legal as motorists cope with retail shortages after Hurricane Sandy."
