Electoral College Good or Bad for America

For the record: Gore ran for President in 2000.  Remember the saga of Florida and the hanging chads?  I know I do.

If the electoral vote was split in porportion reflecing who won what part of the vote the college might be a workable method as opposed to the wiinner-take-all practice now.  What strikes me as interesting is that we have the same discussion about the electoral college every four years, but we continue to live with it.

All the states should get the same number of electoral votes, and they should go to each candidate according to percentages of popular vote.

So North Dakota, having about 685,000 people should have the SAME input as California, which has about 38,000,000 people?

I think the electoral college is a fair system. It is based on the premise that states that have more people should have more say in who is elected to lead the whole country.  The majority rules.

 I think it needs to go bye bye. Once the north eastern states close the polls and start predicting the new pres. Other polls are still open. and people are still trying to vote, It should be that every state has to wait before predicting who the winner is until all voting is fisined throughout the USA.  Otherwise people say oh well no use voting we already know who the prez is.
