Your Fears

It is kind of funny but my kids had this conversation with my kids (aged thirteen and fourteen) the other day.  It seems that they had never seen me scared and knew of nothing that scared me.  I had told them of fears that I had overcome but there didn't appear to be any more fear of anything. I conquered public speaking by entering speech contests. I conquered a fear of heights by jumping off of a cliff and out of an airplane. My wife had to think about it for a bit and it dawned on her that my biggest fear was of something happening to my son, daughter and/or wife and being unable to do anything about it!

I hate snakes specifically. In general, I'm scared of all reptiles.

there are two things that get to me.... Small places, and spiders! ugh they are terrible with their 8 eyes and how the move those gross fangs around! ew....

Im terrified of snakes. All my life i've hated nakes yet most of my friends loved them and even caught them. They belong in the wild so let them be. People these day haha

Mine is a fear of falling and breaking a hip instead of cracking it and having to be in a walker or wheelchair. Of course hights go with it.

so i no longer clim on any thing or go into high buildings and really don't like to fly but will.

I live on the 3rd floor - wouldn't want to live on the higher floors in case there is a fire - however it use to be worse - when there was no smoke alarms that could wake you at night - now I have alarm in my place & on each floor there is alarm  in the halls with a very loud voice that says their is a problem & get out of the building.

I guess there is a fine line betwen being "afraid" of something and being grossed out by something. I am afraid of strange large dogs that are not leashed and that I must walk by. I was chased by my neighbors dog when I was very young, and I only got away from him because he was on a chain. I did not see him when I approached my friends house.  He came from around the corner, suddenly and quickly, and I was startled by him and the loud jangling of his heavy chain. I took off running, and he chased me, as far as his chain allowed. I felt a tug on my dress, and when I was out of his reach, I saw a tear on the hem of my dress, and it was wet with slimey dog saliva. That has stuck with me.

I'm scared of someone in a scary mask at a window...of course NOT on Halloween.

Heights... Spiders, but I am getting better at being able to squish them on my own without too much girly whining... if they aren't too huge. lol

When I see a lot of old people in senior homes, and how they long for some loving care and attention, that gets me scared about the future.
