Do you give a TIP for Take Out Orders?....

So if you order food To-Go, do you give TIPS when paying your food?

not often maybe if i received some extraordinary experience i just typically dont because it is kind of their job and i mean yeah its nice i just dont really think about it nor have the money to tip that often like sitting down and having a waitress of course i would and delivery of course but pick up no, not unless somebody went out of there way to help me

We always do, if at a table and being waited on, and also a delivery driver when he or she delivers.

On take out orders, we do if there is a tip jar, and we have asked before if they're allowed to accept tips.

If it is delivered to me, yes.  If I go and pick it up myself, no.  I figure when I'm sitting in a restaurant, they are bringing the food too me and making sure I'm taken care of.  At least in my experience, when they drop off food to me, they will ask if I need a sauce or something before leaving, hence why I tip them.  Plus there is also the whole gas thing.  When I pick it up though, I more consider it like fast food.

I don't think you should tip for take out orders simply because you are taking it out. They are not particularly waithing on you. They take your order and bring it out to it when its ready. When you sit in a restaurant they bring you drinks, refills, extra, see if everythings ok,etc. You have a mini relationship for about 45 mins. When you take out you do just that, take out. They don't invest that much time with you. Only my opinion.

I don't think you need to tip for ordering out to go. I figured im the one who picked the food and used my own gas to pick up the order.

Not really. I only tip if it was delivery, or if it was a sit-down restuarant. Or if I have like an extra quarter to put into the tip jar.

Yes, sometimes I can't afford to but I always try too, even if it's a only change.

I'll sometimes drop my coin change in a tip jar if it's there but I don't typically. They really aren't providing me more service than I would get at a fast food place and I certainly don't tip there

No. I don't. I am so sick and tired of every stupid company in the world expecting tips for doing their job. Either pay your employees more or charge more for your food/item. I refuse to tip for someone doing what they are supposed to do.

I hope not. I would tip if it's a bar or we sit in a restaurant. However try going to other countries and only 20 % of people tip for everything.
