I don't know what people are thinking. The loose dogs in my neighborhood really upset my little dog when they comme into our yard....I think it's just very rude!!!!!!!!

I agree with other forum members that dogs should be allowed to run free and should be kept on a leash.  Otherwise, roaming dogs could bite someone or get hit by a car.

I didn't know that when a dog and probably other animals have been around you for 6 months, they consider themselves family or that they belong to your property. I see dogs that are lost and when you drive by real slow, they look up curiously to see if you're their master. They actually will turn away and go on looking lost. Please, know where they are for they have all the things [heart, mind, and feelings like we do however they care more for us than they do for themselves!   :dog: :cat:

I live in a fairly big city, so it's actually illegal to let your dog out loose. Any dog found loose is going to be picked up by Animal Control and hopefully the owners can find him or her again before the dog is either a) adopted or b) euthanized. Pets can be put in such danger out in the streets, so I don't understand why anyone would do it either!

I have a 15-year-old Jack Russell, but we have a little yard he runs around in and we go for walks on the weekends (though not very long ones... poor old boy!)

Never let our dogs run wild.  we keep them locked up in a fenced yard.  It amazes me as well that people let their dogs roam where ever they wish.

I've got 6 dogs (2 big, 2 medium, & 2 tiny).  They are NEVER out alone.  I have 1 acre fenced, but I also have a smaller part fenced (of course) that the use in the dark when they have to go out.  I've got 4 flood lights on this area.  I worry so much that something might happen to them, so we always watch them when they are outside.  I hate people who treat their dogs as "animals", they are part of our famiy and we love them!

I love dogs with a passion. I had a black lab mix with pit bull and that was the most loyal dog ive ever known. It was very protective, i've never seen anything like it. Unfortunately i had to let it go  :crybaby2: because the apartment i had to move to didn't allow pets :/. Im comfortable with the owner she has now, but i still miss my baby.

Keep your pets safe...spay and neuter them...and enjoy the best/most loyal friends you'll ever have. :)

Yes I am a dog owner! We have 4 dogs that is ours and one we take care of that belongs to my sister.  I have one dog that is really old and than another dog that someone dumped and she was abused, so she roams the yard and the woods.  These two dogs and my sister dog is outside dogs.  We have two dogs inside and we let them out to go to the bathroom or if my husband is outside they tend to stay outside with him.  We don't live is a community like you do, but we watch them very closly they are like family.  The dogs outside are just to big to be inside pets, and my sister's dog tend to attack our animals and the inside dogs so she has to be on a chain and out side.  My sisters boyfriend abuses this dog so she asked to take care of her until she gets her own place or something but I don't think she is going to do this anytime soon, I have already had her for two years.  She has even quit giving me dog feed for her so I guess she is techniqly mine.

I have never allowed my dogs to roam around. If they are going to be anywhere outside that isn't our back yard, then they have been on a leash. Only two of the dogs I've ever had in my life were given the opportunity to be out in the front with me (usually just sitting on the porch) & not be on a leash, and that was only because I knew I could trust them to listen to whatever I told them to do/not do and that they wouldn't leave no matter how tempting it might have been. I always kept my eye on them too and if they started to creep a bit too far, all I had to do was say their name and they'd turn around and come right back. In the past I have had a couple dogs get out of the back yard, but we keep an eye on our dogs when they're outside just in case they do get out somehow then we can immediately go get them. Other than that, my dogs are indoor dogs. Only on really nice days do I let them stay out for awhile so they can enjoy the breeze and the sun.

My dog stays in the house or uses the little dog room in the back yard.
