I love my dog, wish I could let him run outside where I live, but I just don't want to risk it.

thank you again everyone for your input.  I'm hoping those who don't feel their dog is special will adopt them out to someone who does feel that and will love and protect them.

This is a pet peeve of mine. Like other posters I keep my has dog on a leash. Our township a leash law and fortunately most of our neighbors comply. However there are a few that are of the mindset that that "my dog always comes when called, therefor I do not need to". I have a dog that is very territorial and it is hard for me to control him when their dogs are running around loose. My dog see them as a threat since he he was attacked by 2 dogs that broke their leases. I cannot blame him.

Sorry and thanks for letting me rant!! :BangHead: :BangHead:

People let their cats roam around without leashes. I do not see many people put a leash on their cat and take them to the cat park for some exercise. I agree though, it is not a very good idea to let a dog roam around a neighborhood where there is a lot of traffic.

I travel a lot, so my dog is always on a leash. I wish everyone would tether their dogs.

I always keep my dogs in a fenced yard and on a leash if we're out for a walk.  I hate when I go out for a jog, and come across multiple dogs wandering around freely.  I feel like they should be fenced in for both their own safety and for the safety of people in the neighborhood.

I take my dog out without a leash but I stay with him. He's such a mamas boy I don't have to worry about him running away.  He's wary of cars and doesn't go near the road. He's a pretty good boy.

Maybe it is just me but i love my dog to much to let them run around by their own. You don't know what is going to happen. What if they get hit or don't come back or so many other things. if you can't walk you dog around then you really don't love you dog like you clam. that is how i feel about it.

Yes, I think that should be handled in some way. Perhaps, state laws? I'm not sure, but it does get out of hand especially if the dog is dangerous.

I have a dog and we do not have a fence yet. I get so annoyed when other dogs wander into our yard (his territory) and he is stuck on his tie out and the other dog struts around. I just can't wait until we can afford to fence our yard. Aside from that, I'm sure everyone thinks they have the best dog in the world, but I have a small baby. I would never let my dog near someone else's children without my being there. You hear a lot of stories about supposedly the friendliest dog in the world attacking a child. I just think it's completely inconsiderate.

Our dog is pretty good without his leash.

He hangs in the front yard with us but if I take him on a walk or
anywhere in the car I always have his leash.

My dog stays indoors. I don't think any animal should run loose in the neighborhood. Dogs need to run & get their energy out. If fenced in areas are not available for your dog, then get your running/walking shoes on  ;D
