Calorie counting by itself is pointless IMO.  It's not the amount of calories, but the quality of calories.  60 calories of eating a banana or apple is going to go a lot further than 60 calories of potato chips.  Just think about it - how many people could down an entire family sized bag of potato chips in an hour and still be hungry...yet when was the last time you heard of someone downing an entire bunch of bananas at one time...or a bag of apples.  People would only eat one, maybe 2 of the fruit and stop because they are "full", due to the fact they are nutrient dense, but the empty calories of the potato chips leave your body wanting.

When choosing your calories, make sure you are choosing nutrient rich calories - that way you won't be as hungry over time.

Also, if you start to increase your activity, you will find you need more calories to keep up your endurance.  That's not necessarily a bad thing.  That means you are probably kicking your metabolism into a higher gear, meaning your body is starting to burn calories more efficiently because of the exercise.  This is a good thing.

When I stopped eating processed and boxed foods as the majority of my diet, and started eating more live foods and cooking my own foods, I find I eat a lot less because I stay fuller longer with the higher quality foods.

Perhaps you need to examine what foods you are eating and start swapping out a higher nutrient food for each of the nutrient void foods you are consuming.  Your body knows what it needs, we just have to learn to listen to it and give it what it wants.

Diets alone do not work. Drink water, go for a walk, exercise and limit your meals portions by making them smaller. All these really work!
